“Nice Stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2010

We went to Portland to catch my parents as they docked for the day on their cruise. It was also our anniversary. The hotel was convenient to the area (only 2-3 miles from the docks) and just off of I295. The room was clean and had a microwave and small refrigerator. The entryway and bathroom had hardwood floors. The only complaint would be that the coffee had not been refilled, but was quickly taken care of with a phone call and it was a single serving coffee maker, so ahd to wait to make the second cup. The free breakfast was adequate, but the room was small 6-8 tables. Staff was pleasant. Very nice stay for the price.

I drove here & picked up friends at the airport, about 2 miles away. The front desk staff was helpful with directions & restaurant suggestions. Rooms were fine with microwave, frig, & coffeemaker. Long walk (30 minutes) to downtown--not good for single woman. Nice continental breakfast with waffles

The room was adequate, but the hotel was noisy at night and in the morning. There seemed to be quite a few drunks milling around the lobby the night that we checked in. The breakfast room was small and seriously overcrowded, standing room only, and the food selection was so-so. The neighborhood has nothing to offer -- there's a dairy factory across the street. Not many amenities. Had trouble adjusting room temp -- was either too cold or too hot. For a cheap stay, it was OK, but nothing special.

I recently stayed at this hotel and was very satisfied with what it offers. I felt we got a good deal for a reasonable price. Our room was spacious and clean and for breakfast they offer all I need (waffles, bagels, cereal, juice, etc). It would be nice if breakfast was offered until after 9 but that is certainly no big problem. The breakfast room is tiny given the size of the hotel so be prepared to wait a few minutes for a table or to share a table with other guests.

I would recommend this hotel. It is close to downtown Portland and to the ferries. Complementary Wi-fi and parking are offered and a public computer is available.

Did not enjoy this hotel. Rooms had a terrible musty moldy smell. Toilet didn't flush well. Gnats flying around and dead ones in sheets. Business computer sat in lobby. In open for all to view everything you typed. Very few places to eat nearby.

Portland is unsafe, and unnerving for a single person. Nothing to do near this hotel - no gas, food or areas to walk. Dumpy run down town/city. All streets are one way and have to take the highway to get to the downtown Old Port Area. NO ONE IS FRIENDLY in the town or at this hotel. Very rude people. The front desk staff watched as my luggage wobbled on the cart and the door slammed on the cart. No one offered to help or hold the door. This all happened right infront of the front desk and there were no other guests waiting to be served. The hotel delivered my bill at 1:37am which woke me up. My car was hit in the parking lot over night. I was told by the hotel staff that I was parking at my own risk and that I could park anywhere in the city it didn't have to be at the hotel I was staying at???? Noisy air conditioner. No area for pets to walk but supposed to be pet friendly. TV remote did not work (x3). Rooms need updating. Very old. WILL NOT EVER RETURN TO PORTLAND OR ANY LA QUINTA HOTEL CHAIN

We were very disappointed with the poor quality of this La Quinta. The building is old and dated. One front guest clerk was very rude while the other was pleasant. The rooms smell awful of smoke and dust and dust mites. The bathroom in our second room wasnt fully clean. The outside pool area is ice. The wireless did not work so the front desk staff gave me a number to call a foreign IT help desk but didn't inform me that I would need to provide the hotels exact address to be able to get tech support.. The guest use computer was not working properly but staff didn't seem to care and wouldn't put a note indicating it wasn't working properly. The breakfast area is VERY small and crowded. One of the waffle machines was broken, again staff would not help or put up an out of order message so many guests were left burning waffles and arguing about how to get the machine to work. This hotel was the same price as all of the other Portland hotels with a pool, $169.99 per night on a Saturday night in June. There were also lots of barking dogs, which can't really be helped in a pet friendly hotel.
