When visiting Portland we decided to dine there for lunch after having it recommended to us. We had the daikon salad (surprisingly quite different and very delicious) and the 7-piece nigiri (the fish was very fresh and delicately prepared). The staff was very attentive and friendly. Although the food was very good, having eaten top-notch sushi in Manhattan for the past 7 years, I don’t see what all of the hype around Miyaki is about. The whole time I was there I was dying to ask the server what made Miyaki get noticed on Bon Appetite’s 2012 Top Ten New Sushi Restaurants in America List? If it was a particular dish, I would have liked to try it, but if it was simply the sushi-it was very fine and elegantly served but nothing to schedule your day or trip around if you have top grade sushi readily available to you at home.
