I have been to the Old Port in Portland many times, it's a great venue for spending an afternoon or evening any time of the year.

“City worth visiting on your trip to Maine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2012

Great Shops and Restaurants. I would recommend the following if you visit the old Port for the Day.

Restaurants: Dimillo's, Street & Company and Old Port Tavern
Shopts; All located on Exchange Street
Events: Concerts at the Merrill Auditorium or Cruise on Casco Bay

“Walking Bliss”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2012

I hate traveling from site to site by car, especially in cities. This is why Portland and Boston are two of my favorite cities. Park once, get out and enjoy. A wide variety of shops, some quaint, some flashy, amazing restaurants, cobblestones, friendly locals and tourists. You could easily while away a whole day here if you stop to look around. Definitely a must see part of Portland.
