Paley exhibit had some Picassos. Tanzania exhibit interesting too. The permanent collection is great. Near good restaurants for strolling and spending a day

“Worth a visit”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

The PMA is a compact museum, easily covered in a couple of hours. I don't like museums that are too big, makes you too tired to enyoy the art you are viewing. This one gives you an idea about modern American art with good examples, without exhausting you. Overall enjoyable experience.

“Interesting”

Attended the bicycle exhibit. It was interesting, relaxed and well attended by patrons. From the exhibit area, we emptied into a large gift shop. Bathrooms are close-by & clean. Coin operated meters surround the building.

“Great small museum”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

This is a really nice museum for a smaller city. Nice Maine collection. Good representation if major artists. Good facility and cafe. You can do this in an hour and a half and its a nice break from other activities in Portland.
