Beautiful facility with a nice Collection of some Masters - Impressionists, Surrealists, Contemporary and Old World art. And, with First Fridays the "price was right". We were glad that we made time to go here in between some of our outdoor activities in the area. Nice to add some "culture" to our trip.

This museum has a reasonable admission price and is nicely laid out. The staff is helpful and unobtrusive although photos are not allowed and I couldn't cheat and sneak a few. The collection is superb with many previously unknown Maine artists and a good representation of the better known. A great way to spend 2-3 hours with a few good pieces of sculpture as well.

The museum is open and free to the public on First Fridays which is really nice. The temporary exhibits in each of the past two years have been excellent and the gift shop has lots of interesting things.

This museum offers a wonderful array of exhibits throughout the year. Aside from the art in the exhibits, the architecture of the building itself is beautiful! The museum routinely offers exhibits of local artists as well as the most well-known. This is a gem of an art museum.

Moving to Portland from a much larger city, we didn't know what to expect as far as the art museum is concerned, but we have been pleasantly surprised. It is a beautiful space and features excellent permanent and rotating exhibits all year long. Especially nice is that admission is free Friday evenings after 5:00 pm. There is also a theater that shows smaller, independent films, which is a great asset to the city. Being in the tourism industry here, I always recommend this museum to visitors and they always have rave reviews!
