Great experience for all ages. Nice boat and the owners/operators are full of knowledge around the bay. If you're around Portland Maine area then check them out!!!

Randy and Jenn made our tour one to remember. To start, they were both very friendly and safety conscious. Their boat is top notch and the views and history you get on this tour are amazing. Randy and Jenn are full of knowledge on the history of Portland and the ocean as a whole. I highly recommend contacting Ribbit Adventures and booking a tour!

Ribbit Adventures offers such a unique way to experience Casco Bay and its many coastal sites. The entire experience was first rate which began with donning the most unobtrusive and comfortable life preserver (auto-inflating) I have ever worn. Captain Randy provided our safety briefing and covered the extensive list of electronics which are on-board. Crew and guide Jennifer unhooked the mooring lines and we were off for our cruise. Technically we knew we were in great hands, but in addition they demonstrated such a welcoming personality and willingness to answer questions.

The boat is classified as a rigid inflatable (RIB) hence the origin of the company name. The boat manufacturer, Ribcraft, is apparently the choice of many US Government Agencies due to its optimal mix of speed, stability, and maneuverability. Tours are limited to a maximum of 6 guests with the bulk of the seating being pod seats (imagine a short pommel horse which one straddles). I have to admit I had some doubts on first seeing the seat, but upon sitting, the materials, construction, and location of a forward mini-handrail provided amazing comfort and stability.

Over the years I have viewed the harbor from many ferries and tour boats, but Ribbit Adventures offers an impressive perspective as the riders are far closer to the water’s surface and regularly to the coastline. We were forewarned of the potential of occasional water spray, but on our picture perfect day, no one appeared to have gotten even a drop of unplanned moisture. The layout of the seating provides excellent unobstructed viewing for all passengers.

Among the points of interest we approached and discussed were multiple lighthouses, forts, and even an up close and personal inspection of one of the tall ships, El Galeon, which happened to be visiting Portland and was docked in the general area of Casco Bay Ferries. The maneuverability of our boat was overly apparent as we glided and rotated with ease in areas most other vessels would likely find to be a challenge.

The location for Ribbit Adventures is at Portland Yacht Service Marina in the general area of the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad. When you see the statue of George Cleeve, founder of Portland, you know you are really close.

I highly recommend this unique way to experience Casco Bay. It is a memory that will stay with me for years to come.

We're glad you enjoyed your trip! Ribbit One does offer a unique perspective of the bay and allows us to get a little closer to the sights which allows for better photo opportunities! Thanks for your review!
