Description: Emilitsa is a Greek restaurant located in the arts district of Portland, Maine and boasts a contemporary and casual atmosphere. Emilitsa brings a wide array of Mezethes (small plates), Megala Piata (large plates), and pristinely fresh seafood to the seacoast area. We honor the breadth of traditional cuisine from all regions of Greece. We prepare our Greek dishes with as many local, fresh, organic and natural ingredients as are available to us. We also accommodate those with food allergies.

A terrific experience, including some of the freshest, savory-sweet dolmades, the smoothest feta, the creamiest tzatziki and the flakiest, most flavorful spanakopita I've ever had. The beet salad with a spice garlic dressing was a nice surprise, too. My selection from the Greek wine offerings was very good, as was the espresso finish. Size/price ratio seemed a little off for some plates.

The owner knows how to make guests feel special! He came to our table and wished Mom 'Happy Birthday" , reserving the best window seat in the restaurant for our Mom's 85th birthday.
The meal was exceptional - delicious mezzas for appetizer, lamb dishes that were spiced perfectly and accompanied by interesting salads and purees that were out of this world.
Don't miss it!

While staying in Portland for an extended vacation we attempted to make reservations at several highly rated restaurants.Upon checking the trip advisors reviews we the found the #4 rated restaurant Emilitsa . Contacting the restaurant we spoke to John who stated he didn't have availability but to come anyway and boy we were glad we did.
It was a fantastic experience from the time we arrived to the time we waited for our transportation to arrive. Greeted promptly, served excellent and upon our departure John sat and conversed with us.
I could write about the menu, wine and dessert but it wouldn't do it justice. Just take the chance at the most excellent presentation, and flavors of the Greek cuisine.

We stumbled on this restaurant and were immediately attracted to its Greek menu. Very cozy restaurant that was quick to fill up, if you do not have a reservation, try your luck at the bar. We very much enjoyed the Greek food, everything we tried was either very good or at least above average. The atmosphere is also nice, modern and cozy but not too formal. They seem to serve mostly Greek wine but also make cocktails. Overall, great to have a place serving Greek/Mediterranean food in a place like Portland.

Well made an uphill trek to check this place out. All booked, but we asked if they could squeeze in a couple. Got a great indoor table immediately and help selecting a great red wine. Free appetizer arrived rom the kitchen, a dip with yellow lentil mash up with secret spices- stellar taste. We ordered a tomato salad to split for an appetizer to get a little gluten free item. The olive oil and cheese were excellent. My wife enjoyed her souvlaki. She loved it a said just a little dry, great flavor. I had the lamb loin chops - WOW! Yes, If you like lamb order this. The lamb was on some special mashed potatoes and spinach joined by a steamed tomato. They really know how to cook here. Very good upscale Greek. We heard the owner tell people at the next table that these were his mothers recipes
