I traveled to Reversing Falls to hunt for the three caches hidden here. Two of the caches are physically there and one is an Earthcache that is an Earth Science lesson. We traveled over dirt and paved roads exploring along the way. I enjoyed seeing the falls in relative solitude. It is a good place to bring a chair, settle in and read a book as you watch the falls change over time.

Quite secluded. We received directions from the Cobscook Campgroud which is where we were staying. Not many people there. Great for wildlife pictures. No entrance fee. It's a very, very short hike to the two viewing spots. Amazing and totally worth the stop.

Nothing to dislike. Access is Maine-ish--you can park, if you can find it!--and walk to a shoreline and take in the view, walk around, and wait for the tide to change! The you'll see some nifty nature as water reverses over the small falls in the bay. Hate to tell people to go there, because it is so nice without them! ;-)

25 years ago my husband and I found our way to Reversing Falls Park in Pembroke, Maine. Now that we live within 10 miles we thought we would revisit. Nothing has changed. It is still a small, simple, very out of the way place with no toilets, no signs and no people. But the water views are worth the effort to get there. I wish I could sleep to the sound of that water rushing every night! The park has some woods, some open fields, a small dirt (mud) parking area, a very small old cemetery, and at low tide, some nice rocks to sit on. Not much in the way of trails or hiking right at the falls. I think it is now owned by the town, or the county. It's probably not signed because, like a lot of special local places in Maine, people want to keep it to themselves. Carry in and Carry out. There are no trash cans. No benches. No tables. No swimming (tides are way too strong and dangerous). The land you see across the Denny's River/Bay is about as wild as you can get. Probably looks much like it did to the Native people who visited there many thousands of years ago.
