“RAIN AND BEACH”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2013

We visited the pier for three days over Memorial Day weekend. Even in the rain, people still strolled the beach and were on the pier. I think on Saturday during the rain, some vendors may have been surprised that people came to the pier. Our family ate lunch at Myst and the waiter thanked us for coming in the rain and appreciated our business. That's a nice touch!
The most recent debate is about the cost of using public bathrooms. It costs 50 cents to use the bathroom . One attendant says don't whine about it.
This is my answer. I just drove over 2 hours, booked and paid for parking as well. The Beach is not free when one basically pays for everything. Not a cheap family vacation. I would think the businesses along with the hotels could pick up the cost of maintaining the bathrooms? This makes good business sense.
In the meantime, I think anyone who books a hotel in the area should be given a free bathroom pass for their stay.

“7 miles pristine beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2013

along with the honky tonk of an end of the rail line town. did you know that back in the day, the railroad companies financed amusement parks at the end of the line to get peeps to ride the train? family fun, 2 great casual fine dining: the Landmark Rest and Joseph's by the Sea and plenty of dependable food shacks such as Dewey's and Pier Fries. try to book a room at the Aquarius Motel on Brown Street: family owned, clean, ocean side and probably the best price in town.

“Beautiful anytime”

nothing was open because it was before 'the season' but the view was still beautiful. Wish there had been more to do there.

“Old Orchard Pier is what a pier is supposed to be like”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2013

Over the years the Old orchard Pier has changed due to the times and fires. Today, it offers the amusement park people a chance to see what a pier is supposed to be like. Great views of the beach, places to get french fries with a touch of vinegar, a dough boy with powdered sugar, and some Maine friend clams. These are just from the stands along the side in between T-shirt shops and finally a restaurant. Strolling the pier is as important to the Old Orchard beach atmosphere as riding the merry-go-round or ferris wheel. You just gotta do it. We hit it one a year when we visit relatives in OOB and do the terrible trio (fries, clams and dough boy); only now we split the servings.

“Will Always Have Memories”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2013 via mobile

We went here in March and just loved how quiet it was. We sat together and watched the sun go down almost every night. It was beautiful when it was empty but I don't think I want to see it in the summer.
