It was very relaxing and clean! I enjoyed staying at this resort! However, it was 1.5 miles of walking distance to the pier. It wasn't too bad but it might be better to stay closer if you have small children. If you need your quiet space with your love one then this is the perfect place!

Room Tip: ocean view rooms are not really oceanview!!! I guess u can still ckeck out the nice view from the ba...

We have been coming to OOB for 12 years (we are in our early 30's) and have virtually stayed at every hotel there. The resort was just that, very clean and landscaped well. Our room was warm, clean and inviting. The owners have focused on details that are important. From the K-Cups in the room for morning coffee, to making it a point to clean the dew off the chairs and tables that surround their wonderful pool. The pool was the perfect temperature, extremely clean overlooking the ocean. Their free continental breakfast was fresh and had many things to choose from.
At night the room was quiet you could hear very little from other vacationers. We are planning a trip back in a few weeks.

Room Tip: Second and Third floors have nice balconys overlooking the ocean and pool. First floor has a patio.

My husband and I needed to get away and we were able to sneak a few days up at our favorite place. We usually stay on the second floor but I felt we only have 2 days so lets just stay on the first floor. What a surprise we had when we went into room 113. It was just done over in a beautiful green apple color with bedspreads with navy, green, and stripes of lobster and star fish print! What a beautiful room! with all the walls white and the accent wall in that green apple color was truely striking!! Along with a large flat screen tv it was very enjoyable.. The beach was amazing as usual. The owners never skim on remodeling.. Every year we go up there they always update and remodel something!! amazing!! Clean, fresh, and very helpful!! always the best experience every time we go there is never a disappointment!

We had a lovely room on the second floor with ocean and pool view.
The property was well maintained. The staff were courteous. We tried to stay longer, but they were booked. :(

The beach is fabulous.

If you've not been to OOB before, you might be surprised by how quaint it is.

The location of this hotel is about a kilometer from the boardwalk so it's less bustling and crowded. You can ride the trolley for $1 a trip until midnight. so, if you want to go to the boardwalk for the evening and dress up you don't have to worry about taking a car or walking. And the trolley driver might even entertain you. :)

Room Tip: 2nd floor section A. Great view, private balcony.

My wife and I (early 60s) have been going to Old Orchard Beach in September for years and The Royal Anchor has been our favorite for some time. The owners are wonderful, helpful people who truly care about their clientele and always make you feel welcome. They take good care of their property and the lovely pool, right on the beach, is always spotless and heated just right. The rooms are clean and the large beds very comfortable. We enjoy sitting on our private terrace where we can watch the ocean. It's also great to be able to fall asleep listening to the surf. We are happy that most rooms were refurbished over the last few years as our only complaint until then was that the rooms were starting to show some wear and tear. The prices are a bargain when you consider the ideal beachfront location, the quality of the accommodations and service, the great pool and the good breakfast included in the daily rates. We will keep going back as long as we can.

Room Tip: Refurbished rooms recommended. For more privacy and better views, choose 2nd or 3rd floor.

Our parents took us there many years ago. Now that they have "left" us, we just love to go there and recall memories of them while taking some relaxing time away from work and husbands !!!!!!!!!!!!! (Oh Oh ! did I really say that ?) September is a great time to go !

Room Tip: All rooms are great but of course ocean view and pool views are the best !

if you like body surfing decent size waves in fairly warm waters of the atlantic then this area is the place to be. Weather was pretty hot so the water was inviting and the waves became our best friends.Clean hotel with good breakfast right on a nice quiet piece of beach real estate made this holiday an enjoyable one. Great walking on the soft sands to either the funky pier or to gaze at the how the other half live in their regal manors. Bring your bicycles to cruise the avenues around the maine landscape and don't forget a trip to the famous Clam Bake seafood eatery where your palate with have a pleasurable time.
