Just back from a relaxing 3 day weekend in Ogunquit. This resort is very good. Check-in was quick and pleasant. All questions answered and even more information given than requested. We stayed on the second level poolside near the ocean end. The room was large, king size bed, great shower. Everything was exceptionally clean. Half our stay was marred by the inclement weather, but those are the chances one takes. We spent evenings in the hot tub, met interesting people. Some of them have been returning to this resort 6 times a year. Walking the Marginal Way was easy, even in fog and rain The walk to Ogunquit Beach was not longer than 10 minutes. Many shops and eateries are within walking distance. We found some very good end of season deals. Room prices do vary so there are rooms available to fit most weekend budgets. The on sight restaurant had good breakfast and dinners at fair prices. I have stayed at hotels where the on sight restaurants are overpriced and the Anchorage is not. I would definitely recommend this place with knowledge of how much someone is willing to spend. It is not a Days Inn with $79 rooms. You must realize you do spend more for location and ambiance.

This was our second visit to The Anchorage By the Sea. My husband and I spent the weekend with friends of ours and their family for a birthday weekend celebration. This motel was just wonderful. The place is so pretty and the grounds are just so beautifully manicured. We stayed on the first floor and our room faced the ocean, which was such a great view and it was right along the Marginal Way, which we had easy access to. The room was extremely clean and very up to date. The only complaint I would have is that the air conditioner vent is directly across from the bed and, also, the walls are very thin and beds are somewhat noisy - we could hear the people above us getting in and out of their beds - not extremely loud or annoying but none-the-less it's noticable. There is an outdoor and indoor pool, which are both crystal clear, as well as two outdoor hot tubs which are awesome and very, very clean. There is a great little restaurant/bar on the premises and the food is delicious. It is a little pricey for a drink but all in all, very convenient and the staff are extremely friendly. I would highly recommend this place and will definitely return again. It is a walk to the beach - there is not access from the motel but it's only a couple blocks away, and you can drive there with easy parking. A great place to say in Maine that's for sure!!

Just spent the past weekend at the Anchorage. Friendly staff. Great location. Beautiful views overlooking the Marginal Way. Nice new updated rooms. Very comfortable beds. Expensive. But worth it.

Room Tip: The rooms overlooking hte Marginal Way are the best.

Spent 2 mid-September nights here and found everything to be very nice; it's not the Ritz but it doesn't pretend to be or cost nearly that much. Stayed in a second-floor Port room that was fine size, very clean, plenty of storage, had comfortable bed, and was clearly renovated in the past year or two with real thought and effort: Andersen windows that open, nice trim and fixtures, heat and AC that worked well. We made reservation late, but a room closer to ocean would be even nicer.

Grounds and pool areas are well maintained, plenty of chairs. Location is perfect at start of Marginal Way, 5 minute walk to downtown, <10 minute walk to beach. Plenty of parking. Even breakfast at the on-site restaurant was quite good.

Just returned from a weekend getaway. Had stayed there before but it had been a few years. We had a pleasant stay but the rooms are definitely showing their wear...

A fantastic location but as others have pointed out, it's overpriced for the caliber of the room. It could use a refresh. The comforters were a bit scary and the bathroom incredibly small.

But they still have a nice pool, fantastic views, and are a short walk to everything.

In short, there are worse places to stay.

Room Tip: Anything on the second floor will give you some ocean views.

I will start with the positive. This is a gorgeous property with a well maintained lawn and spectacular views of the ocean from a majority of the rooms. Our check in was smooth and courteous. We were traveling in a large group and they put all of our rooms together which was very nice. They also had cribs in the rooms as we requested. The rooms were small but clean. The restaurant had very friendly servers and had a nice breakfast so we ate there every morning. The hotel is very centrally located and is an easy walk to town and it sits on top of the marginal way so that is great as well. Here are my criticisms: The indoor pool is not warm at all. I can understand the outdoor pool not being warm, but what is the excuse for the indoor pool? I went with my 2 year old, and he was shivering. They really should put some more expense into heating the indoor pool as it was really not very warm at all. The checkout was horrible. We had a fellow with a Caribbean accent (they do not have name tags on at reception). He was very sultry and did not want to explain our charges or give us our receipts. Two different times I said thank you and he had no reply. No thanks for staying here, no have a nice day, no safe trip home. Just plain silence. If that is the face of the hotel, management has problems.

We stayed there, the last 3 years, enjoyed the location, but for $200.00 a night, we think it is not worth it anymore. They are not on top,as they used to be, the carpet is not being clean, old and it really smell, the beds need to be change, no flat screen TV, there are two chairs in the room, we almost sit on the floor, can't use them to write or use our lap top.... lucky they have the location. We are going to shop around for our next stay, the money is not a problem.
When we're are being asked about your place, we tell the truth....
Please do something, we would like to return.
