This past weekend, my wife and I made a last minute trip up to Maine and found the Hartwell House Inn to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. While taking the tour with both Eric and Charlene gave us a very hearfelt and generous surprise which made my wife emotional (in a happy way) and the both of us very greatful. The breakfast was superb and the Inn was extremely clean and in a perfect location. We cannot wait to find another weekend and go back!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the executive suite and it was phenominal!!

Beautiful Ogunquit, made more beautiful by Hartwell Inn. It's a charming, old-classy on the main road of Ogunquit. The innkeepers are uber-efficient, sincerely concerned about your every need, so very warm and friendly. Also, Charlene dons the loveliest casual dresses. Her husband is equally charming and affable. The breakfast menu is simple but elegantly prepared, in decent portions and served by gracious staff.

Hartwell Inn is a short walking distance from cozy Perkins Cove where one can stroll and visit every nook and cranny of quaint little stores stocked with the finest in clothing, casual wear, souvenirs, Christmassy items. Then there is the Marginal Way which is a must for everyone (even me, with my bad right leg). The local theater is so like Broadway, but intimate and so enjoyable.

Room Tip: The suites in Hartwell Inn, are your biggest surprise. No picture can do justice to how cozy, comfortable, clean and pleasingly "old country."

Last weekend, my husband and I chose to stay at the Hartwell House for a pre-summer weekend getaway. We were warmly greeted by the innkeepers, Charlene and Eric, who gave us a tour of the lovely Victorian Inn and the beautifully landscaped grounds. Our suite was spacious, nicely decorated and immaculate. It is located just a short walk from Perkin's Cove and the scenic Marginal Way. Each morning, we had an exceptional breakfast presented to us. One of the creative offerings was the Blueberry Sundae Pancakes. Delicious! I also enjoyed the freshly baked muffins and cinnamon rolls. Each afternoon, a variety of teas were available, accompanied by cheese, crackers and some baked goods. It was so nice sitting on the patio, chatting with some of the other guests. Charlene and Eric were so friendly, professional, and attentive to the needs of their guests. Each staff member we encountered was pleasant, efficient and helpful. We originally planned to stay for one night, but we enjoyed it so much, that we decided to extend it for another night. We will certainly return again soon.

Spent a long weekend and every moment was wonderful! Charlene and Eric were fantastic - making sure we had everything we wanted! And when they had a cancellation on a bigger room they moved us there at no extra cost!! It's a quiet peaceful setting, and a great location. We walked down to the cove and on Marginal Way many times!! Breakfast is fantastic!! Enough food to keep you filled until dinner! And the afternoon tea, with cheese, crackers and homemade cookies was perfect. Beds and linens are so comfortable we didn't want to get up. All in all, a great bed and breakfast!! We'll be returning as soon as we can!

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room!! Great view of the beautiful backyard. Wouldn't want a room facing the road.

Just returned from yet another three day stay at the Hartwell House. Went with a little trepidation this time. All our "family" and moved away and had a whole new staff (except for the wonderful maid, Linda). New innkeepers, servers, and an additional housekeeping staff. NEED NOT HAVE WORRIED!!!!!!!!! Before they left, the previous staff (and, of course, the wonderful owners) made sure the new staff would be just as great. Eric and Charlene, the new innkeepers, are so friendly and wonderful and make you feel so at home, we still felt that we were coming back to "family". Makayla, the new desk person and server, is the cutest and friendliest person. Yet another wonderful addition is Fred, a new housekeeping staff. If you want to go away, feel VERY much at home, yet get waited on, take a trip and stay here. The grounds are lovely and the owners are always doing upkeep somewhere to be sure the place is always welcoming. It's just a great place to go and enjoy relaxation to the max.
