I had a wondeful time at the Betty Doon, Yes it is of the older model, reminded me of when I was a kid. Yes I could stay at the other Inns and it's life as usual, but I really enjoy going back in time. Very Very nice people that work at the Doon. I will be booking again this year!

The only upside to this hotel was the price. I think I paid $90.00/night and it is in a great location!! The room we had was damp!! The carpets were dirty!!! My daughter at the time could not walk and use to crawl on her knees. After crawling around on the carpet, her knees were dirty!! Our white socks were black after walking around with no shoes on. We were unfortunate enough to have a room under the gift shop. We heard every person that walked into the gift shop until they closed. My suggestion is if you have children the that still take naps and go bed way before the gift shop closes, request a room away from the gift shop!!!!

My wife booked reservations indicating that we required two seperate beds as were a party of three. Upon arrival for a 3 night stay, our room only had one bed. We were informed that no other rooms were available. We had booked our reservation in June for August. Since no vacancy signs were posted all over the area, we ended up staying in Kittery.

The lady that took our original reservation was at the desk and it was obvious that this person appeared over-whelmed in her responsibilities. As a result of this experience, we would avoid Betty Doon.

I really enjoyed my stay here. I stayed for a long weekend for 120.00 a night. I love the location its perfect! Walking distance to everything in downtown Ogunquit. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They have free coffee and hot muffins in the morning. It was very clean however I do agree the furniture was old and the tv was small but who cares your are at the beach! If you are staying in Ogunquit to enjoy the outdoors the tv really shouldn't matter that much. I loved this place and can't wait to go back next year!

We booked in the Betty Doon for a week, but after the first night decided to check out as soon as we could. On the good side the hotel is excellently located, right on the town centre crossroads, and walking distance to the beach, all the stores, restaurants, post office, etc. The trolley bus stops right outside. The motel parking is good. And the rest is all downside.

There are two main problems: the noise, and the nickel-and-diming throughout. On the noise - if you are unlucky enough to have a room by a corridor that gets any kind of traffic (we were right by a staircase) you will hear absolutely everything from anyone walking by at any time. If you are unlucky enough to have even slightly noisy guests in the rooms next to you, above you, or below you, you will each be able to join in the other's conversations without raising your voices. And if you are anywhere close to the theatre at the side of the property - well, you'll know the production pretty much by heart by the end of your stay.

The other grating thing is the cheapness. I realise it's a low-star motel in a seaside town, not the four seasons, but they are charging $150-$200 a night in the summer and the standards of the rooms are just not up to it. At every conceivable point money has been shaved - tiny old shower and bathroom, worn furniture, cranky old TV, no crockery or coffee making, etc etc.

It's not that it's intrinsically a bad place, it's just not worth the rates charged. At $80 a night it would be viable, at twice that I strongly advise that you doon't stay at the Betty Doon.
