The beach in Ogunquit was great. A large beach with smooth sand. The water wasn't very rough and the surf had a long way up the beach. If you get there at low tide the beach seems huge, however the beach starts to disappear as the tide comes in. You learn that the first day. So on day two be sure to set yourself up on the upper part of the beach so you don't have to constantly relocate due to the rising tide. By the time the tide is high the beach becomes a more narrow strip, however there are numerous tide pools which is great for smaller chldren. We loved it. Just remember one thing........at the end of August the water temperature is very very cold. You may want to consider coming to Maine in July :)
