The beach in Ogunquit was great. A large beach with smooth sand. The water wasn't very rough and the surf had a long way up the beach. If you get there at low tide the beach seems huge, however the beach starts to disappear as the tide comes in. You learn that the first day. So on day two be sure to set yourself up on the upper part of the beach so you don't have to constantly relocate due to the rising tide. By the time the tide is high the beach becomes a more narrow strip, however there are numerous tide pools which is great for smaller chldren. We loved it. Just remember one thing........at the end of August the water temperature is very very cold. You may want to consider coming to Maine in July :)

Yes, we made a trip to the beach during our November visit.
It was cool because no one else was there, and the surf was really high for the Maine coast.
The sea seemed very powerful.
It was quite a site to see.
If you are ever on the Maine coast in Winter you should Bundle up and head on to the ocean.

The beach is shrinking but it is wonderful, it is long and beautiful, check the tides.

We're tropical beach lovers, but this was a nice change. Wide during low tide, we enjoyed just walking around, even in less than ideal weather!
