The Sea Chambers Motel is a perfect place to stay while in Ogunquit, ME. Located on Shore Road, it is just around the corner from the main roadway to the beach and not far away from the Marginal Way, a pathway along the shore.
The motel room and bathroom was very clean, spacious and accomodating even down to the coffee pot & supplies needed for that 1st cup in the morning. A refrigerator in the room kept leftovers safe. We were in a corner room on the bottom deck which to our delight boasted a private deck area adjacent to the guest deck. We had 2 huge windows looking over the river area and to the main beach. When making reservations look at the room map available on their website / the front corner rooms like ours have the best views. A continental breakfast was included at a small eatery accessible thru a motel corridor, tasteful in every way.
Our weather was not the best but with all the small shops and eateries all within walking distance of our motel, there were many things to see and most businesses stay open until 10 or 11pm. Also benches along the way give the visitor time to just sit and observe.
The Trolley system in the area is 1st rate and highly recommended due to the huge flow of traffic in the village, once parked it is safer to stay put. The Trolley picked us up right across the street from the motel and for $1.50 each (less for children) we had many choices where to stop. We decided to explore the many shops in Perkins Cove, a beautiful little village. A great place to eat was Barnacle Billy's with a wonderful casual atmosphere and complete surf or turf menu.

Sea Chambers has been the location of many happy memories for my family, parents, sisters and their families. I was so dissapointed when the dates we wanted were all booked this year. The location is fantastic, especially for kids. Walk to beach during the day, hang out at pool in the early evening, walk to town for dinner and shopping, and, of course, top off the night with ice cream from one of the many local eateries. Moosetracks was their favorite flavor. Some nights, we would order pizza or fast food and bring it back to the hotel for eating outside our room on the table, chairs provided. I have to agree that the free continental breakfast is awful. Carbs-only, served in an uncomfortable setting, with old ladies hovering over the "fancy" buffet area, making you feel uneasy with children in tow. I generally kept the kids outside on the patio area and made them go in one at a time to get their food and bring it outside. All the while I'd be nervous that they might drop a piece of china or spill juice on the carpet. Heavy china, glasses and cloth napkins are fine for sit-down service, but not for a self-service buffet. In spite of this, we find the staff generally friendly, the maid service very good and the rooms immaculately clean. The view from the common sitting areas is outstanding. My dad is not capable of walking much, but he loved just sitting outside his room watching the ocean all day.

Two major players in the Ogunquit lodging scene are not listed in your list of Ogunquit accomodations; Terrace by the Sea and Sea Chambers. I would like to comment on the good and not so good about the Sea Chambers so that it may be listed as a part of Ogunquit lodging. First the good LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. Just steps from village shops and the beginning of the Marginal Way and a short walk to the main beach. There is a nice view out over the tidal river toward the beach and the cliffs. We had a mininum price room, but it was spacious, very clean and well furnished. There was a separate sitting area with a comfortable couch and chair for reading and watching TV. The grounds were nicely landscaped and maintained and there was a row of Adirondack chairs at the edge of the property looking out on the beach, tidal river and Marginal Way. A couple of negatives: First since we had always stayed at the Juniper Hill Inn in the past, I missed the indoor pool. A bigger negative and the main reason I didn't rate this
excellent was the complimentary continental breakfast. It was served old New England style on pretty crockery and probably with silver plate utensils a woman presiding over everything and pouring coffee. The meal consisted of watered down orange juice, bagels cut in half, cream cheese, tiny pieces of "homemade" breakfast cake obviously from a mix, and the worst coffee I have ever tasted. I don't think instant Postum could taste any worse. The last 2 days we were there we bagged the Continental breakfast and went to Bread and Roses, the excellent local bakery, and had delicious muffins and cinnamon rolls along with juice and possibly the best coffee I have ever had, in their outdoor cafe. Better not offer complimentary breakfast and knock a couple of dollars off the room rates, than to offer a breakfast that was barely edible. Next time we go to Ogunquit, there will be 2 good motels to choose from; Sea Chambers and Juniper Hill Inn. The Juniper has a few more luxurious amenenities, but its up the hill location can't compete with the Sea Chambers' location and beautiful view.
