“Great location”

We saw a silent film - what a treat. There was also live music which was so cool to listen to when the movie was playing.

It was a little hot in the movie, but the idea is great!

“A summer Classic”
Reviewed June 30, 2013

OK; you have to give up all XXI century concepts of what a movie theater should be and just enjoy. OK, the seats aren't super-comfortable, some ceiling fans are it for climate control, and the place is just downright funky. But the sound system is good and the screen is ginormous and there's a real sense of communal enjoyment. The Leavitt has been part of our summer vacations for thirteen years, and we go whenever we can from May to September.
I also want to commend the owner for his attempts at interesting programming. Besides first-run films all summer, I see that this year there will be open-mike nights on a regular basis, and a series of silent film classics. i was lucky enough to attend a Buster Keaton film last week. it was a real revelation for me. The film itself was excellent, and exciting in a way that films today attempt but don't even get close to. The musician who provided the accompaniment was outstanding and even spoke a little about the film, the history of silent cinema and of the Leavitt itself. But what made the evening special was cheering and booing and gasping this film with other viewers, silent film buffs or not, as we watched the antics and thrills on this enormous screen.
A truly unique experience.
