Description: Established in 1931 the Ogunquit Lobster Pound has been proudly serving the best Maine lobster for generations. Choose your own live lobster to be boiled in seawater in the traditional Maine fashion or try one of the many offerings from our full menu. Now in our 87th year, we continue our traditions of consistency, quality, and exceptional service. We eagerly look forward to another season of satisfied customers both new, and those who have been returning for years.

It might be a bit touristy but this is a fun place and the food's good. Go early and avoid the wait. Picking out your own lobster makes it more fun. Friends raved about the lobster pie. There's plenty to choose from for the non-seafood eating folks too.
My only complaint: this is the only resturaunt I've been to lately that consistently has a difficult time when more than one credit card is presented to pay the check.

We've been here several times over the years to the point that it has become a tradition every time we visit Ogunquit. However, we were pretty surprised when my child ordered cheese ravioli with alfredo sauce from the kids' menu on our last visit and were charged $5 extra for the alfredo sauce. It isn't listed as extra on the menu nor did our waitress tell us about the fee. The manager claimed that in all the years of business (I think that means 83 seasons!) they've never had a kid order alfredo sauce for cheese ravioli and wouldn't have thought to tell us about the fee in advance. Huh? She took $2.50 off our bill, but it still felt like a bit of a scam. The Lobster Pound is a cool experience because you can pick your own lobster and have a great meal, but beware of the alfredo sauce. Hopefully, there aren't any other $5 hidden add-ons.

The experience was fun and similar to Jordan's on Long Island where you get to pick your own lobster, which they steam, crack then bring to your table. The lobster is very sweet and fresh, and cooked properly. We were also very impressed that our lobsterman was able to accurately pick one male and one female. We eat lobster at home often, and the lobsterman back home often pick wrong. While the lobster was delicious, it was overpriced at $18.95 per pound. The service is nothing special and the rest of the food was average. We would still come back as the lobster was so fresh and sweet.

Nothing fancy, just good lobster at reasonable prices. Don't expect romantic or white tablecloths, but do expect great lobster.

Ogunquit Lobster Pound is the place to go for an authentic steamed lobster and succulent steamed clams. All are cooked in salt water and the steamers were delicious......tender, very clean and oh sooooo tasty. I thought the 2# lobster was perfect (sweet and tender) and we split the steamers. Pricey, but worth every cent we paid. The lobster and steamers tasted like they just came out of the ocean. If steamers and steamed lobster are one of your favorite foods, then give the Lobster Pound a try, you won't regret it!
