The Roost is a family favorite! The menu is awesome, and everything we have tried has been phenomenal. Aldo's Cuban black bean soup is amazing. The bouillabaisse is outstanding, and churasco and chimichurri sauce with red beans and rice is done perfectly.

The owners Rob and Aldo have created a deliciously comfortable dining atmosphere with great wait staff..... In my top 10 for sure!!!

Roost, you started out fantastic. We were warmly greeted, even without a reservation, and welcomed to the bar while a table was prepared. The bartender was funny, engaging, friendly, and served up some beautiful martinis for us. We should've stayed and eaten at the bar -they offered us menus there, and the bar was beautiful and spacious. But no....we opted for a table. Where we sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. When finally our order was taken, everything that came out was pretty marginal. Scallops with arugula and fava beans in a pepper sauce were tough. The lobster papardelle was bland. The tables around us were all grumbling about service being slow and food being uninspiring. The owner came out and apologized to the table next to us, but told them it was their fault for expecting good service on a holiday weekend - that every restaurant experience would be identical. Wrong. If we ever go back, I'd stick to the bar and simpler fare.

There were easily 4 entrees i wanted to try. i settled on the Moroccan encrusted salmon which was delicious. Unusual collection of dishes sure to please everyone, including pad Thai and more classic french and american dishes. Appetizer of mozzarella, tomato and basil was very fresh, a cut above. We did not have a reservation but went a little early for dinner, about 5:45 pm and they found a spot for us. Very welcoming. Really lovely service and lovely setting. Not crazy price wise.

The Roost serves breakfast late, maybe all day, and offers many variations on eggs benedict. It has a homey, rustic feel, in a renovated farm house and an appealing, laid back looking bar for late afternoon or evenings. The restaurant is not as touristy as much of Ogunquit.
