We stayed over the Labor Day weekend. We've been coming to the Beachmere for well over 15 years and have always enjoyed our stay until this year. We were "off campus" at one of their other places. We found the accomodations to be lacking. The room smelled faintly of mildew and stale smoke, the TV was tempermental, the bed uncomfortable and the furnishings not just stained (of what I dare not consider) but actually filthy. It seems they've put all their efforts into the new addition and have forgotten this room. Needless to say in the future, we'll continue to stay at the Beachmere, just not off site.

The Beachmere is the perfect place to stay in Ogunquit. I will echo other comments, the location is perfect about a 10-15 minute walk to the beach (unless you can cross during low tide), directly on Marginal Way, and very close to town. The Beachmere property provides incredible views of the ocean, it truly allows you to relax with the sounds of the waves crashing and coastal landscape.

The staff was friendly and allowed for an early check-in to room 120 in The Beachmere West. This West area is a new addition, room 120 is extremely roomy with 2 flat screen TV's, a kitchenette, and a living room with a couch. It provided a nice view of the ocean but was slightly obscured by the other buildings on the property. My only complaint was the noise as this room was directly next to the kitchen area used to serve the complimentary continental breakfast in the morning. The kitchen's ice machine provided harmonic vibration which may be soothing to certain guests, but we would have preferred a better sleeping experience.

Another recommendation would be to add a pool to the property, this would truly add to the experience.

I highly recommend the Beachmere for the excellent location, charm, and amenities. Just make sure to carefully select your room in order to get the most out of your experience.

We just returned from our first time to Ogunquit and loved it. We researched all the best places on the Marginal Way and am SO GLAD we chose The Beachmere. We stayed in the brand new west wing. It was amazing. Beautifully done. The most comfortable king size bed and every convenience possible (including a gas fireplace!), plus a perfect view of the ocean from our room.

We had originally considered the Sparhawk and Anchorage because they have a pool, but turns out we would not have even used it. The ocean was wonderful to walk in and since we don't have kids, this was the perfect spot. Much better for couples than the Anchorage which was overcrowded every time we walked by.

The only negatives to the room was the absence of a mirror by the dresser. The mirrors were only in the bathroom, which also had plenty of space for a double sink, though they chose to use a single instead. The water pressure was also possibly the worst I've experienced, but we got used to it after a day or two.

Also, I was concerned about the walk to the beach, lugging all of our stuff through town. It wasn't that bad, but we actually spent most of our days at the cove beaches anyways. It's accessed right from the Marginal way (2 minutes from your room). These coves are perfect when it's low tide (which is for 5 hours a day). They are more private, just as clean, and you can actually walk right over to the main beach! Just don't get caught over there when the tide comes in, or you'll have to swim back.

What more can I say? The pub was a nice touch, but would have been better if they offered food. Also, the continental breakfast was better than expected. Fresh coffee, bagels, raisin/nut bread, muffins, orange juice. It was the perfect start to the day. The staff was always friendly, smiling, and very helpful as well.

We will definitely stay here again next year. Can't wait!

We just returned from a wonderful week stay at The Beachmere Inn. The location is excellent - AMAZING view of the ocean - and walkable to all the main Ogunquit attractions (the beach, Perkins Cove, town, The Marginal Way). We stayed in the brand-new room 107 with our 13 month old and the setup was terrific. The king size bed was super comfortable and the living room/kitchen area was just right. We were able to put our little one to sleep in the bedroom and sit outside on our porch and enjoy the ocean view. We loved The Beachmere so much, and Ogunquit itself, that we already booked our Summer 2009 return trip!

We just returned home from a wonderful 8 night stay at The Beachmere Inn. The room was large with a king bed and a very functional kitchen area. The view of the ocean was just perfect and it was just a 10 minute walk to the center of town. No need to bring extra outside seating as we had a table and 4 chairs on the patio.

The only thing that was missing was a pool, but with the ocean so close, it was not a big deal. We plan to stay at The Beachmere Inn again in the future.

This is our 10th year at the Beachmere. That alone should tell you what an enjoyable stay we've had (every year). They have added a few more conveniences for guests from a hot tub and spa (you have to book an outside service, but it was incredible and worth it), to a gym and, best of all, a small pub called Bawdy Sallys. The pubs success will all be due to the wonderful bartender, Michelle. She was personality plus, accommodating and made a great drink. Put that together with the fact that she's a Red Sox fan, and you have a perfect place to watch a game and have a nightcap or two.
Watch the surf and surfers from your balcony while you read a good book, do some shopping, and eat at Provance or Prime or Angelinas, or Bintliffs, or The Beach House. Then buy a "Life is Good" t-shirt, because it doesn't get much better than that!

  • Liked — you feel at home-you're not just another person dropping by
  • Disliked — the dresser sticks-that's it!

We just came back from a 4 night stay at the Beachmere. It was our first trip to Maine, and we loved it. I didn't want a big kids scene or pool, just wanted to be near the water, and have a nice hotel and the Beachmere was that and more! My husband and 10 year old children loved going to the beach when the tide was low, and when it was high we went exploring to Kennebunk and York beach. We did the lobster boat down at Perkins Cove and walked the Marginal Way - WOW!! There are a few hotels (such as the Beachmere, Anchorage, Sparhawk) that are directly on the Marginal Way between town and Perkins Cove, so they are SOOOO convenient. You walk, you enjoy the view, it's really superb!! Ogunquit is a great town with lots of nice conveniently located hotels. Have fun!!
