The room was clean, but the front desk staff that I dealt with were borderline rude. The location is right on route 1, and the main walking route into town is down a street with no sidewalks - not ideal for families. There is another adjacent sidestreet that has sidewalks, but the front desk staff failed to point that out - they directed us to the one with no sidewalks. The other side street brings you closer to Perkins Cove, but still walkable to the main area of shops. My room was very small. Overall, it wasn't bad, but I think there are many better options in Ogunquit for comparable prices. Continental breakfast was included.

Dear Guest,

It is with our apologies to respond to your posting. We appreciate your business and thank you for staying at the Meadowmere on your vacation.

Our location is one of the hidden secrets to our hotel – in the heart of Ogunquit, yet one feels secluded. Should one wish to walk to the village shops and restaurants, one may walk along the sidewalks of Route 1/Main Street or enjoy a shorter stroll down a local road from our back parking lot, with far less traffic and passing the beautiful Ogunquit Heritage Museum. Should one wish to walk to Perkins Cove, one may walk out our south entrance along the sidewalks of Bourne Lane and Shore Road. Of course, families may find it best to use the local trolleys, which stop at our back door and are very convenient. We apologize that not every walking route was described – often guests ask for the quickest way to town passing the museum. It is such a lovely quiet side street with a public park and cute summer homes and in five minutes, you are at Marginal Way, shops and restaurants, as well as sidewalks. We are surprised to hear that you did not enjoy it.

We appreciate the feedback on our front desk service and apologize for anything less than professional that may have occurred. We would welcome you to contact us to discuss further – after all, that is how we will know how to improve.

Thank you for sharing your review.

Meadowmere was a great place to stay. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The room we stayed in was on the first floor close to the jacussi and indoor pool which was a great plus to our kids. One thing that the hotel could improve upon is the breakfast service. Given the size of the place I found the size of the restaurant a bit small. The morning breakfast rush was a bit hectic without seating to eat.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review - We appreciate your business and thank you for vacationing at the Meadowmere!

Our amenities make us a family favorite – sounds like everyone enjoyed our pools and the Roman Spa. We are pleased to know that you found our staff warm and welcoming during your visit. In regards to breakfast, we offer the continental breakfast buffet in the summer as a convenience - many of our guests just want to get the day started and grab a quick bite before heading to the beach. There are so many excellent breakfast restaurants in the village - They are so delicious, we couldn’t compete! We would be happy to share some of our favorites with you.

Thank you for the compliments and for sharing your experience - We’re looking forward to your next stay!

I stayed at Meadowmere recently and really don't get it. Very basic motel. Very tiny tiny pool. Small lounge with indifferent service - no cocktails by pool for example. Crowded and basic breakfast. The "five minute" walk to town is really 10 and it's a stressful walk next to traffic, with sometimes no sidewalk. Longer walk to beach would be very hard for families with young children. Front desk service was chilly.

I did not go to evening movie, or use spa or fitness room so maybe these things help. But, for over $200/night, I would stay at Juniper Hill or Anchorage - -both nearby, closer to town and friendlier (though many motels in Ogunquit have this "motel" feel -- what you are paying for in this lovely town is location; not amenities and service.)

Dear Guest,

It is with our apologies to respond to your posting. We appreciate your business and thank you for staying at the Meadowmere on your vacation.

It appears from your contributions that you have stayed at many of Ogunquit’s hotels and, though you consider most to be “motel” in their feel, having an ocean view is an important part of your visit to Ogunquit. While we are not ocean front, the Meadowmere is known as favorite for a family friendly atmosphere and ample amenities, including pools, hot tubs, TV room, game room, onsite pub, fitness center, spa services, tanning, personal training, room service and more. It is too bad that you did not give our pool side service, as well as many of our other amenities, a try during your stay as it may have change your view on our hotel – It certainly is hard to see a two star rating from someone who has not truly experienced us. However, we can see from your many reviews that location is your most important factor. We certainly understand that a hotel more focused on the accommodations and amenities may not have been a fit for you.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We hope you find accommodations in Ogunquit that suit your future vacations to the area. Should you wish to discuss further, we welcome you to contact us.

Meadowmere Resort is not really a "resort" but it's still a great place to stay. Meadowmere has everything you really need and more and it has the feel of a very nice Inn. The facilities are immaculate and the staff is very accomodating. The location is great, very central to walk everywhere. The town trolley stops right at the hotel and it can take you anywhere you need to go; we never had to wait more than 15 minutes for a trolley. The fitness center is HUGE and is a health club in its own right. The outdoor pool is tiny but the indoor pool and the hot tub even that out. The hotel has a fun game room (pool table, air hockey, arcade games) and a full laundry facility. The included breakfast was fine, nothing special but what you would expect from a nice Inn. We stayed in the Country Squire section and the room was large and perfect for a family of four. On our last day we checked out at 11 AM and had another full day in Ogunquit: we walked the Marginal Way, had lunch at Perkins Cove, took the trolley and went to the beach for a few hours and then walked back through town to the hotel around 5 PM. Even though we had checked out over 6 hours earlier, the front desk gladly gave us towels so that we could use their clean showers in the bathrooms near the game room and freshen up before we drove home. This time Ogunquit was more of a stop over on our way back to NYC from Bar Harbor; next time Ogunquit and Meadowmere will be a destination.

My husband and I checked into the hotel with our three year old son shortly after leaving our originally booked hotel-which we had to leave because it was a dump! We were so worried that we would not find lodging for our 4 night stay in Ogunquit, but luckily the Meadowmere was available. Upon arriving, the lobby area smelled so fresh and clean. Staff was friendly and accomodating and offered us a room in the Country Squire building. The only unfortunate thing was that we were not told we could use the outdoor pool, which was disapointing. The motel room was spacious, clean and charming. I loved the decor! The one complaint I have about the room is that the bathroom was a little small and one of the ends of the shower curtain rod was so rusty that I was nauseous while I was showering. The complimentary breakfast was very practical and offere basic foods like toasts and breads, muffins and baked goods, cereal, yogurt and oatmeal. My husband and I would have preferred different foods throughout our stay, but each day was the same exact breakfast. In all, the property was very well kept and we really enjoyed our stay. We would definitely return again!

I traveled to Ogunquit with my husband. We were very excited for our trip, but especially for our stay at the Meadowmere Resort. However, as I quickly learned, the Meadowmere is a resort in name-only.

Yes, there are indoor and outdoor pools. The outdoor pool is an extremely small triangle that is extremely cold.
Yes, you can get on-side massages. However, the massage service they contract with is less than responsive to guest needs. (NOTE: My therapist was good, but making the appointment was a hassle.)
Yes, there is a continental breakfast served daily. Breakfast is essentially the same meal every day: the same pastries, the same cereal, the same fruit. (I know the manager has commented about this in the past on other people's reviews of the hotel, but quite frankly a little diversity would help breakfasts for guests who stay multiple nights.)
Yes, the location is good. However, you're going to have to walk (or drive) to the town and the beach (or take the trolley). It's a pretty long walk, so we drove to everything.
Yes, the rooms are neat and clean. The bathroom and closet in our room were extremely small (see photos). The porch was not realistic to sit on because of its small size.

The fitness room is BY FAR one of the best features of this resort. I was extremely impressed with the quantity and quality of equipment.

The staff was pretty nice EXCEPT upon checkout. They wouldn't entertain the idea of giving us even an extra hour ('til noon) the night before our date of departure, which is common practice amongst hotels. We were told to check back at 8 a.m. (since that when housekeeping comes in) the following morning to see if we could get a later checkout. I got up extra early to do this. At 7:50 a.m., I went to the front desk and was told in order to guarantee 2 p.m. check-in for other guests, they couldn't extend our check-out time. They didn't check with housekeeping or to see if our room was going to be used by other guests that night. We were just told "no." (Um, we could've been told this the night before so that we wouldn't have had to wake up super-early to find out that the answer was NO.) This is not very resort-like!

We've stayed at plenty of resorts. The Meadowmere is nothing more than a glorified motor inn with a nice location.

Dear Guest,

It is with our apologies to respond to your posting. We appreciate your business and thank you for staying at the Meadowmere on your vacation.

While we are disappointed that we did not meet your standards for a resort, the Meadowmere is known as a resort for offering a family friendly atmosphere and quaint setting with ample amenities, including outdoor/indoor pools, outdoor/indoor hot tubs, TV room, game room, onsite pub, fitness center, spa services, tanning, personal training, room service and more. We can see from your many reviews that you prefer chain hotels. We certainly understand that if corporate accommodations were expected, our independent family hotel may not have been a fit for you.

Though we make every attempt to accommodate requests for a late checkout, it is not always a possibility. We apologize that you felt inconvenienced by this – However we must balance the needs of all of our guests when facing such requests. While check out from the room is 11am, we welcome our guests to continue to use the facility for the day and enjoy a few extra hours in Ogunquit. It is unfortunate that this did not meet your needs.

While we regret that there were concerns during your stay, thank you for sharing your feedback. We hope you find accommodations in Ogunquit that suit your future vacations to the area. Should you wish to discuss further, we welcome you to contact us.

We've stayed at the Meadowmere several times over the course of the past year for leisurely getaways and to attend to business in the area as well, and we've never been disappointed. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean, comfortable and well-maintained. You're on Route 1 so while you may not be right in the thick of things it's an easy walk to town. It's especially pleasant in the off-season when it's a little quiter all around. Can't say much about the restaurant because we've never eaten there and we have too many other favorite dining spots in and around Ogunquit, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel to anyone. We'll be back.
