“Loved the Rockmere !!!”
Reviewed January 22, 2007

My girlfriend booked us a night at the Rockmere Lodge on Marginal Way at Agunquit, Maine as my surprise 50th birthday gift and after arriving and seeing the place I couldn't have been more pleased. Marginal Way and Perkins Cove has always been one of my favorite places to visit at any time of the year, but I've never had the chance to stay and relax and really enjoy the area so the lodge was truly the "icing on the cake". The lodge is very clean and "homey", wonderfully painted and wallpapered so each room has it's own story and "charm", and our room had a wondeful view of the ocean as well. If that wasn't enough, we also had access to a "Lookout" area on the top floor where we could look 180 degrees and see nothing but the beach and the waves crashing in. The two innkeepers that we met(Andy and Doug) were very friendly and accomodating and had no problem talking about the history of the lodge and how they came about owning it and renovating it. The dining room and place settings also had its own charm and we had to take a picture before eating our wonderful breakfast because it looked like something you'd see in a magazine. The lodge is already booked for this summer so it's reputation is already well known and most likely has many repeat customers that come year after year and I certainly understand why they would. We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves for the night we stayed(an off-season Thursday night) so we got to look in at all of the rooms and see the work that's been done and different colors, configurations and "charm" that they all possess. It was truly a wonderful experience and we recommend the Rockmere Lodge and its friendly innkeepers to anyone. Personally, I couldn't have had a better birthday and this lodge was the main reason for it. We plan on returning in December to witness the lodge after it has been decorated for the Christmas season. It must truly be a wonderful sight to see and we're really looking forward to it.

We spent a weekend here in August and it is fantastic. The location is to "die for", the food served at the included breakfasts was fantastic, and the three guys who own/run the place are interesting and personable. Furnishings are a bit eclectic, but that is what one goes to a B & B for, isn't it? The view of the ocean coupled with the quiet of the location is hard to find in many beach resort areas. One can park your car when you arrive and not get into it again until you leave!

  • Liked — The view from our room on the 2nd floor
  • Disliked — can't think of anything
  • Tips/Secrets — I believe all rooms have double/queen beds, so you do want to sleep with the person you go with!

I can't say anything that hasn't been said by previous testimonials, so I'll keep it short: my S.O. and I stayed at the Rockmere for New Year's weekend, hoping for a quiet, isolated seaside b&b experience. We got that, and much more. The innkeepers (Doug and Andy) were very friendly, the food was excellent, and we were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Excellent location (ocean views from multiple rooms, feet away from the Marginal Way & Perkins Cove), very reasonable prices, and more antiques than you can count.

We'd go back in a second. Cheers!

We were driving home from New York -- 6 hours in a monsoon -- on a Saturday late this fall. The kids were with grandparents, the dogs at their own doggy B&B. On an impulse, we decided to duck into a private haven somewhere...my only request for my birthday the next day was to wake up where I could see the ocean. And see it we did...15-foot rollers with horses' manes being blown back by the still-fierce winds, pounding the rocks below Ogunquit's famed Marginal Way.

We were up at sunrise and walked the short distance along the shore into town to get a cup of coffee. Back at the Rockmere, we holed up in the 3rd-floor lookout with our books watching the sea crash. After breakfast, we walked the equally short distance to Perkins Cove.

Rockmere Lodge: with your gorgeous grounds & decor, comfortable squishy beds, perfect location, and Doug's fabulously warm hospitality, you were exactly what we were looking for. For all you busy married couples out there that haven't found a quiet space to connect lately, make time to visit the Rockmere. It's cheaper and way more fun than a marriage counselor!

Third year in a row we have stayed at beautiful Rockmere Lodge. The rooms are just lovely, decorated so beautifully. The view from our room was outstanding! The hospitality, friendliness, and graciousness from the hosts, Andy, Bob, and Doug is 'priceless.' We now feel like family. Warm and welcoming. Truly a 'beautiful place by the sea.' Can't wait for next year. xxoo Jackie :)

Location, location, location. How many times have you heard this?
Well, the Rockmere definately has location. It is situated just off the marginal way, half way between Perkins Cove, and the town of Ogunquit, with easy access to Ogunquit beach. Ocean Views, ocean sounds, along with wonderful lodging and entertaining hospitality, what more could one ask for. My wife and I spent the most enjoyable 4 days at this establishment. We were coming off of a tough week of business in New York, and needed some refreshment, and restoration. Rockmere had just what we needed. The breakfasts each morning were varied and beautifully prepeared, and we got to know each of the owners as we sat on this wrap around porch, and relaxed. The friendly atmoshpere just added to the beauty of the place. You could see in the glorious gardens just how much pride they took in making this Lodge a respite from the stresses of the world.
We enjoyed this place so much, and especially, the hospitality of Doug, Andy, and Bob. We are looking forward to coming back to Rockmere.

Where to start....the gorgeous property, the warm lovely room with the breathtaking view or the wonderful hospitality of our hosts Andy, Bob & Doug? It was all picture perfect and we had the best time. Our mornings started on the porch which was decorated in Fall Harvest fair that was so great with a breakfast that looked just to good to eat. Not only is Doug a terrific cook but the presentation was outstanding! Then came the the conversation and endless pot of coffee with Bob & Andy and you just felt like you knew eachother forever...we hated to leave and can't wait to get back to see our new friends. This is a place you that makes you feel good all over!CVCA
