The waitress recommended a great wine that we ended up recommending to the table next to us. We started with the cheese plate, which was delicious. My husband had the pork loin and I had the Seafood trio. Both were well prepared and enjoyable. The service was excellent. We sat at a table overlooking the street so we were able to watch everyone walking by as we enjoyed our dinner.

Pretty atmosphere but we expected more from a restaurant with $30-$40 entrees. Food was good but not great. Caesar salad was lackluster. Seafood trio (lobster tail, clams, crab cakes with summer risotto) was beautifully presented but lobster was dry and tough. My husband's duck was dramatically overdone. These are likely the results of too long under a heat lamp.. My mixed drink was very tasty but when my husband asked the server for a wine rec she looked entirely flustered and said she'd have to ask the bartender. We then overheard her answering the next table's querie about what was included in the cheese course ("Um, maybe cheddar and Monterey jack? I'm really not sure."). Come on. We realize that this is summer help but these are not hard questions. we did appreciate the owner/manager coming over to check on us. Little things were amiss too. Our candle was extinguished and never re-lit. The table next to us had noisy small children. It's a summer/tourist-run community, but for this price-point Katie's misses the mark. I would not return and would not recommend.

Thank you for coming to Katie's. We are sorry that your experience was not everything you had hoped it would be and we have addressed several issues which you have raised about a new server. Just a couple of additional points of clarification .... our entrees do not generally run $30-40. Our typical larger entree is approximately $27, with many less and only a couple more than $30. Nothing at Katie's sits under a heat lamp. It is prepared when you order it and is brought to your table when it is finished. If you felt that something was overcooked or simply cooked more than you would have preferred (tastes differ), we would appreciate the opportunity to address the issue immediately so that we can make every reasonable effort to accommodate you. But again, we thank you for joning us for dinner.

We went back to Katie's this trip. We hadn't been there for a couple of years. Needless to say, it was wonderful. We've tried others and keep coming back. It is a very relaxed atmosphere and the food and service is just so superb. We like to sit by the front windows and watch people go by. It's such a great place. If you want relaxation, great food, and wonderful service, this is the place to go.

Last year, we liked Katie's so much, we wanted to give it the coveted 5 stars. But, alas, 1 entree out of 6 didn't measure up (mine, unfortunately), and the much-pushed dessert special was (to use a sophisticated food word) yucky.

But, they certainly deserved a return, as a place with a convivial atmosphere, great service, and often terrific food. This time around, it was a score. Our group of 7 tried all manner of apps and mains. One said their clam chowder was the best he ever tasted (this, from a Boston guy). Only 1 app (mine, unfortunately) missed the boat, with a special chowder (haddock, crab and coconut) falling short and being ultimately a bit (stomach) unsettling. My friends were quick to remind me that getting a "special" fish chowder on a Sunday night after a busy weekend (i.e, leftover soup) was not a great idea. But, around me, everyone else RAVED about everything.

For mains, we had steaks (gorgeous), loster mac n' cheese (oh, the moans and groans!), and much more. I had a Diver Scallops special, and this was truly amazing. (See pic)

Not only were we pleased at every level (including great service from Anya), it was easy to see that this meal back home in Boston would have cost a heckuva lot more.

Katie's earned our return visit, and they deserve your visit too. Also worth noting, they do quite a few house infusions, and have a very extensive martini menu. Enjoy!

Food was delicious, and the service was just great. We dined here two nights during our week in Ogunquit and would have returned for a third, but they weren't open that night. What really made it special was the hospitality and attention of Anya, the manager.
