“Great views of the Maine coast and White Mountains”
Reviewed August 14, 2012 via mobile

While staying in Ogunquit we decided to take the drive to the top of the mountain. It's about 20 mins from town. We fit it in after the beach one day before dinner.
No fee is charged for admission. At the top of the mountain there is an old ski lodge, and the supporting structures of old ski lifts. The place isn't very well maintained and there are several radio antennas and cell towers. Not what I expected.
However...the views of the presidential range and the coast were well worth the drive. We did not stay long. Maybe a half hour. There are picnic tables at the top... and there are hiking trails. You could park at the bottom and hike up.

Having read about this on TripAdvisor, we decided to scope it out. Family was grumbling with the ride up, not knowing what to expect but to their surprise when we reached the top, they were in awe. Was a clear day so can see the White Mountains on one side and the ocean on the other. Something to see...wish we had time to hike it.

“A great view only 20 minuted from town.”
Reviewed July 27, 2012

Having been to Maine a few times my fiance and I had never hear of Mount Agamenticus until we saw it on here. After a day of fighting crowds in Ogunquit we decided to take a drive out of the town and check out the mtn. It is only a short drive out of Ogunquit and a pretty drive. There are 2 options to get to the summit: you can hike up or drive. As it was getting late we opted to drive. On top there is a parking lot, many picnic tables, restrooms, 2 observation towers, some radio/cell towers and a ranger station. The view is beautiful! You can see the all of the coast as well as the mtns to the North and West. It was also nice to get away from the crowds and traffic and spend a couple hours enjoying the scenery.

“Nice hike with awesome views!”
Reviewed June 24, 2012

My husband and I decided to venture to Mt Agamenticus with our two poodles for a hike and to check it out. What a pleasant surprise. We drove to the top and walked around the summit - great views of the mountains in New Hampshire, the ocean, lighthouse(s), beaches, and hawks!! There is a lot of history there - very interesting to learn what Mt A has been used for in the past. We hiked part of the ring trail, which was very moderate and then headed back up the witch hazel trail to the summit. If you're looking to kill 1-2 hours, take a break from the beach and stop in. Well worth the trip. Lots of picnic tables, and a nice learning center in the old ski lodge. We stopped at Flo's Hot Dogs for the house special on our way back (you pass it to get to Mt A) - the parking lot was packed - a true sign that it must be worth the wait. It was good, but not superb.
