“A Clean & Quaint Mom & Pop Operation!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2009

After attending a conference at the Point Lookout center the day before, my wife and I needed a place to go for breakfast. The security guard at the resort suggested this diner and we were glad that he did! Agreed, the place does resemble a "greasy spoon" from the outside but is actually extremely clean and well-maintained inside. The breads were all homemade, as was the cornbeef hash and homefries that accompanied my omelet. Our waitress also happened to be the owner and she was a hoot - very friendly, attentive, and a wicked good sense of humor. We even got to meet the chef and he was a big, friendly sort who took kindly to my compliments. The prices were better than anywhere else around and the food was very tasty, equalling an overall great value for us. I highly recommend visiting this place.

“looks like a greasy spoon, but isn't”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2008

The Northport Diner isn't much to look at. It's a small, nondescript restaurant surrounded by a gravel parking lot on Highway 1, about halfway between Lincolnville and Northport, Maine. It's the type of place you normally pass by and don't give a second look to. But the owner of the motel we were staying at in Ducktrap, ME, recommended it for breakfast, so we decided to give it a try. We're glad we did. This isn't fancy food. It's simple, homemade food featuring local ingredients in season. It was wild blueberry season when we were there, and we had the blueberry pancakes. They were delicious. Portions are large, and the prices are very reasonable. Three breakfasts of pancakes, with generous sides of bacon and hash, limitless coffee and hot cocoa, came to about $25. We were stuffed when we left. Service is prompt and friendly, and the place is spotless inside, despite its slightly ramshackle appearance from the road.
