While many of the restaurants in the Ogunquit area get more business and publicity than Jake's, non are any better. Frills are at a minimum, no waiter service, food is delivering via self service and on paper plates with plastic forks. But don't let this discourage you from trying the fried clams or scallops. Jake competes with anyone in this area. This restaurant is always busy when we've been there, I don't like giving a positive review for Jake's as it probably will increase the crowds. But Jake's deserves the praise. Prices are very competitive, and facility is very clean. Dining is both inside and outside.

We ate there twice in two days. The first because it was near and there was a line. The second time because we were looking for something fast before we headed home and we knew the food was good.

We stopped here for lunch and ordered the full belly clams. What a waste of money. We then tried the lobster roll. Again, a waste of money.

We stopped here for a quick late lunch on a short visit to the region. Wanting to "eat like a local," we ordered a clam strip roll and clam chowder. The former was great--a large portion of freshly fried clam strips served on a roll, with tartar sauce on the side and a choice of fries or chips. We both agree the roll was superfluous, and that we could have munched on the clam strips all day. The chowder left much to be desired; the flavors didn't blend at all, the bacon was nearly lacking, and the dominant taste (and taste sensation) was cream. Go for the fried seafood, and leave the rest aside. Service was friendly; crowd was on the old side (average looked to be 70 or so).
