I have enjoyed The John Sterling Harbor House several times. Susan and Mark have restored their antique guest house with love and attention to detail. It is a joy to stay there. I always feel welcome and it is the perfect place to unwind. Susan makes a terrific breakfast. She is a caring host. And the garden and the views are just lovely. Sip a glass of wine and watch the sunset!

Room Tip: The rooms on the quaint side of the house have spectacular views. The rooms on the back side of the house have a lovely deck. Either side, you can't miss!

We spent two days on Monhegan Island. The first day it rained.....and we were so lucky to have Susan, our Innkeeper, to take care of us. We talked, laughed, and ate great food. Susan, you made a rainy day so nice. The Inn is so charming, we loved our room. The views are spectacular! The breakfast was delicious too. The island is so pretty and friendly, we will be back!!! Thank you!!!

The John Sterling Harbor House is in the spirit of Monhegan Island - it is a basic, no frills inn. Our room overlooked the harbor, had simple antique pieces in it, and had glorious breezes at all times, which made sleeping incredibly blissful. The innkeeper is a gracious host and direct descendant of the builder of the house. Her hospitality made us feel welcome. At first we were surprised by the inn's simplicity but quickly came to treasure it. It's in keeping with the spirit of the island. Breakfast was simple but delicious. When we return to Monhegan Island, we will stay again at the John Sterling Harbor House and stay for a longer time.

We stayed 2 nights here June 20 and 21. Susan, the host, was warm and friendly without being intrusive, and prepared delicious rich breakfasts. The location, just up the hill from the landing and across from the Island Inn, couldn't be more convenient. There are areas in the yard to sit and enjoy wonderful views of the harbor and islands. They have part of the inn where pets are accepted and Susan dealt very well with our little Jack Russell. We managed to wear him out hiking.
The kitchen was spacious. The bedroom had a full bed which seemed a little cramped but we slept well. The bathroom is spacious in this section, but the shower stall is narrow, and would be difficult for anyone who is overweight. Overall, our stay was wonderful but too short, If weather is good, and you enjoy hiking for unsurpassed views, 3 days is a minimum. we would absolutely come back and stay here.
