“Fantastic holiday in beautiful place”
Reviewed August 25, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We stayed at the property for 10 days early in July and we had a great time. Carla was very kind and helpful and provided w elcome pack of essentials for us when we arrived. We were 2 couples each with a son aged 13 and we loved the wonderful pool and the peaceful location in lovely countryside. We made several trips into Reiti for shopping which
Which was about 30 mins away and a pretty town known for being the "centre of Italy". We found some good local restaurants and had a day out to Rome which was about an hour and a half drive away or by train and we did the main sights.

We would recommend the villa wholeheartedly and would definitely return.

“relaxing in Lazio countryside”
Reviewed August 23, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

the villa is precisely as stated on the web page. a car is essential as there are no shops bars restaurants within easy walking distance [especially in the hot summer sun] it has a good size pool, large gardens with the ubiquitous olive trees, large rooms, comfortable beds, two terraces, views over surrounding countryside, small kitchen but with all appliances etc. nearby town of Rieti has good shops and restaurants, also several restaurants within 5 mile radius. the owner speaks very good English and is very helpful

“Just perfect!”
Reviewed August 19, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

The house sits in the middle of its plot, not overlooked from any angle. The pool is a short walk from the house, and has fantastic views over the forested hills and valleys of the area. The owner is extremely hospitable and welcoming, and is always available at the end of the phone from Rome, but the cleaner lives in the village, which was handy when we locked ourselves out one day! The area is so rural, there is a lovely large lake about 10 minutes away and every other evening we would hire pedalos or kayaks and swim off them in the warm inviting water. The locals are friendly and the food at the restaurants was all good quality and cheap. We ventured into Rome one day, it takes just over an hour to get there and the parking was plentiful and cheap, and we managed a good deal of sightseeing. I would hesitate booking if you have small crawling babies as there are a few steps and stairs down to the kitchen, but our youngest at four was absolutely fine. This really is a fantastic find. The area is unspoilt and the only tourists we saw were Italian, which can only be a good sign! Thank you for sharing your home Carla. I can highly recommend this rental to everyone. I haven't felt so relaxed for years!

“Fabulous in Every Way”
Reviewed July 14, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

In many years of villa holidays in Italy, this was undoubtedly the best house we have stayed in. Carla could not be there when we arrived but we were warmly greeted by her maid, Antonella who showed us around the house and Carla arrived later to make sure we were happy with everything. The house is nicely furnished, spacious, clean, comfortable with two lovely bath/shower rooms and plenty of wardrobe space for clothes. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could possibly need. The situation, tucked away down a long drive in beautiful large grounds, is magical with wonderful views in all directions of the mountains and surrounding countryside. We loved having our breakfast and lunch on the large sunny terrace and having supper on the area by the front door watching the sun go down over the hills. Mornings were spent exploring the beautiful countryside and lovely little villages not far away and we spent the afternoons by the gorgeous swimming pool.
To sum up - we can't wait to go back next year!

“An idyllic escape in the Italian countryside”
Reviewed July 7, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

Myself and four friends had the most wonderful holiday in Casa del Mandorlo and are hoping to return for many more. We arrived very late on the Saturday and Carla was there to give us a warm welcome and was nice enough to stock our kitchen with all the essentials to get our holiday off to a great start.
The villa itself is beautiful and it is difficult to put in to words how peaceful it is there. All you can hear is the birds, cicadas and the occasional church bell in the distance. The villa was much bigger than we had expected and very well furnished. Carla has thought of everything that you might need from toaster and kettle to hairdryer and hot water bottle. We were also lucky enough to be there when the cherry tree was bursting with cherries and Carla encouraged us to help ourselves.
We went on a few trips from the villa. It is situated about 1 1/2 hour drive from Rome so we spent a day there taking in some of the famous sites. Rieti is about a half hour drive and a lovely village which we visited a couple of times. There are several local villages that we could have explored much more as well as a stunning lake that we drove around when taking in the area.
I would highly recommend a holiday here and hope to return again in the coming years. Absolutely wonderful.

“Fantastic holiday accommodation at Casa Del Mandorlo”
Reviewed September 3, 2012 for a stay in August 2012

The photos on the website don't do this house justice. The place is stunning and set amid the Italian hillside with fabulous views all round. The accommodation is very clean, comfortable and very tastefully decorated. It has all the mod cons you'll need and more.
The surrounding area is green and picturesque. It was quiet and peaceful, the silence only broken by birds or the cicadas. We never tired of the views and there are so many different places you could sit and relax. The porch, the terrace, the secret hideaway with sun loungers, the pool - where ever - you had plenty of space to wander around both inside the house and out.
The host, Carla, met us and was so friendly and kind. She started our holiday off by leaving us fruit, a bottle of wine, bread, coffee and milk - all very welcome.

The nearest village is Rocca Sinibalda, just under 2 miles away - a pretty place that has a general store (they did a lovely panini), butchers and a bar (great views again) - the restaurant was good too, good food and reasonably priced, although beware, it's not open every day.

The nearest larger town with bigger supermarkets and lots of shops is Rieti - worth a visit as it's a lovely place with plenty of places to sit and have a drink and people watch or to shop. it has loads of churches for such a small place too, one of them, St Francis is absolutly fabulous inside. From Rieti, it's possible to get a bus into Rome for approx 4 euros - got to be done!. Also, in the San Rufo piazza, there is a large stone marking the centre of Italy! A clear photo opportunity
If you want to venture further affield, try Villa Adriana near Tivoli to see what Emporer Hadrian helped to build / design. it took us about 2 hours steady drive from Casa Del Mandorlo.Take water and allow at least a couple of hours to see everything. The Tivoli gardens are worth a trip too - ask when near - it's easier. The waterfall at Marmore is quite expensive if you dont take the longer tour - but it's pretty and worth considering, providing you are ok to walk up and down loads of steps, as are the nearby lakes.

You definitely need a car, and a Sat Nav wouldn't go amiss - but the roads are generally ok although the road signs can be confusing.

All in all, the Rieti area is wonderful and so breathtakingly beautiful, just have a drive around. If you want a place off the tourist track - this is it. We'll be back

“Perfect in Every Way”
Reviewed July 31, 2012 for a stay in July 2012

I cannot recommend this house more highly. It is perfect in every way. The owner has thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. We have been here for ten days. We don't want to leave and we plan to book it again next year.

As I write this I am sitting in the dining room, looking out across rolling hills with my toddler fast asleep after a wonderful morning splashing in the pool and my husband satisfied after a day in Rome yesterday.

The house is large, cool despite the heat outside and very comfortable. The surrounds are tranquil and quiet. Your can drive to a small Tabacchi 2 minutes away for coffee and cornetti in the morning of for daily supplies. Or you can drive into Rieti (15-20 mins) for town comforts, restaurants, supermarkets etc.

We have also gone to Rome for the day twice. It takes 1 hour 20 mins to get to the Villa Borghese carpark which is perfectly situated as the starting point for a day of sight-seeing.

Come here if you want a break from the hustle and bustle of life. We have been with extended family members of all ages and we've all loved it.
