The people are super friendly and very helpful.
The cabins are beautiful and extremely clean. Very comfortable to spend time and relax with friends by the fireplace.
The food is excellent and they cater to food allergies.

We will be going back next year!!

I have to say that this little resort has a lot going for it. The views are beyond comparison. I came for one night just to raft the Penobscot and I wish I had more time to explore the mountain. It was simply breathtaking and I hope to revisit in the future.

The customer service at check in and through out our stay exceeded my expectations. The lodge arranged for a local guide to babysit my dog while we went rafting and she was wonderful. This place is a little gem and the scenic views are priceless.

My only concern would be the poor construction of some of the features in our cabin. While we had full sized appliances (which was great!) the counter had staining in it and the dishes were dirty. I also noticed that the knob on the bedroom closet was broken. This isn't a huge deal but I thought to mention it because it was the one thing that prevented me from giving a perfect rating. Honestly it's a small detail that is easily overlooked and the service made up for it. I should also elaborate that the stains on the counter are deep set (it was some sort of stone used for the counter top) so there isn't anything the resort could do other than replace them which doesn't seem realistic because the place seems very new.

Overall our stay was nice and would have only been better had we gotten the chance to stay more than one night. The area is beautiful and the people are lovely.

I am reluctant to write this review because this place should be kept a secret! However, we were so pleased by the service and setting this place offered that I feel compelled to give credit to NEOC, the River Driver Restaurant and staff for the vision and outstanding job that they are doing in thoughtfully developing and managing this extraordinary place. Kudos to you!

We stayed at Twin Pine Cabins at NEOC for two nights in mid July, 2013. And two nights was definitely way too short! We were a group of 10 split between two cabins, Big Mud and the Guides Cabin. At the time of booking these were the only two cabins available for the nights we were going to be in the area during a family/friend white-water rafting trip. Prior to arriving at Twin Pines we had been staying at the Forks, while white-water rafting the Kennebec River. We thought that that area was spectacular until we arrived at Twin Pines, NEOC, which immediately took our breath away. Half the group were familiar with this area and knew that the rest of us were in for a treat, but it was beyond our imagination; even beautiful pictures cannot do this area justice. The grounds were natural and lovely and the scenery majestic. Even though one full day was occupied with with white-water rafting on the Penobscot and a pre-planned dinner for that evening, we were fortunate on the day of arrival to have time to enjoy the canoes and kayaks on the lake, which offered an incredibly peaceful and scenic experience. We felt as if we were taking a step back in time. In the evening we had some competitive games of ping pong in the rec room. My only recommendation there is that new paddles and attention to the ping pong table would be nice! They seem to get significant use.

My husband and I are sailors and predominantly ocean people, but we definitely would spend time away from the sea to be in this location. Even though the Guides Cabin was older and a bit "cozy" for our group and had some humorous quirks it was clean and essentially worked well for us and did not deter from out short stay. When we noticed that at screen was missing in one of the bedroom windows, once reported, it was quickly replaced. We have however booked Premium cabins, with more space and updated amenities, for a full week next summer.

Before arriving at Twin Pines I had contacted Shorey in regards to planning a dinner for ten at the River Driver Restaurant to celebrate this family/friend gathering, a Birthday and in anticipation of our daughters engagement, which she was tearfully and happily surprised by. The restaurant did an outstanding job! We appreciated the patient and attentive staff, delicious meal, which everyone in the party continues to comment about, and the lovely extra touches! It was a most memorable evening and we were gifted with a glorious sunset. What a perfect celebratory back drop!

Since that time our daughter and fiance have chosen and booked this site for their wedding next summer and we could not be more thrilled. We look forward to our return to Twin Pine Camps, and working with Shorey, the staff at NEOC and the River Driver Restaurant once again! Thank you so much!

Our party of 8 spent a week in a coveside cabin, and we didn't want to leave. The cabin was cozy, comfortable and a short walk to the lake front. The children loved kayaking and canoeing around the lake; the life jackets, paddles and equipment was all well cared for and clean. The grassy areas overlooking the lake were inviting with their fire pits, Adirondack chairs and shade trees. The gardens around the River Driver Restaurant were lovely, with vegetables and flower beds bordered by decorative lighting.

Basically the NEOC staff was friendly and very open to providing any service for us. We brought our lab puppy, and he loved swimming in the lake and playing with the dogs of other guests. The staff would smile and pet him, and provided a dog bed for our cabin. The ladies at the front desk were always full of smiles and advice, and we appreciated the complimentary coffee which was always provided across from the check-in desk. I'm ready to book a trip there next summer!

Everything and everyone connected with our weekend was superlative. Every staff member I contacted on the phone or in person was friendly, helpful, and well-informed. Checking in was a snap, even though it was dark and we had never been there before, because we just looked at the map on the website, and our cabin had lights and heat on. We were a little chilly at night with just the blankets provided, so we took some off the bunk beds and were fine. The kitchen was stocked with durable but attractive dishes, glasses, pots and pans, etc., all squeaky clean, and we had a microwave and refrigerator, but no television. Cell phone and Internet coverage was spotty but available in parts of the River Driver's Restaurant. Breakfast and dinner were outstanding, with the very best onion rings I have ever had in my life, except for A and W Root Beer in 1962. Dave was our guide on the snowmobile tour and was very patient, enthusiastic, well-informed, and pleasant to us two old ladies, and I would strongly suggest specifically requesting him. He was an absolute treasure. This was probably the best weekend in many years.

Spent a winter vacation with three kids. The cove side cabins were great, and we had the convenience of the restaurant for meals as well as all the winter activities we were interested in.
We look forward to coming back in summer.

Check in was a cinch. Very friendly staff.

GUESTHOUSE: Our guesthouse was about one year old and had modern everything. Floor to ceiling windows looking out on trees and a cove. Comfy couch and oversized chair (not gross at all). Booklet full of area activities and guesthouse rules. Felt secluded from everyone else. Could wake up to the sunrise. Completely quiet. Very easy to checkout. You don't have to wash the linens. You just have to clean the dishes, put everything back the way you found it.

THE CAMPUS: Awesome common area with amazing views of the lake and Mt. Katahdin. Nice dock, swim entry point, etc. Great photo ops. We were there in the off season, so just walked around and took pictures next to the pretty lake.

THE RESTAURANT: We were there two nights. The first night, out of laziness, we just walked down the way to eat close by. We ate in the wine room, next to the window looking at the lake and mountain. The bread was to die for. Melted parm and sea salts baked on top. We took pictures of our entrees. I mean... this was Class A food and service. We went back the next night and tried all different things (they had a different kind of bread, I guess the chef varies it). We'd buy the place next door just to be close to that restaurant.

Without camping, it's one of the closest places to stay if you want to explore Baxter State Park. Takes you about 30 minutes to get to the park entry, and another 30 minutes to the Chimney Pond trail head. So allow ~1hr to get there from NEOC.
