“A beautiful place”

The rocks are lovely, and even better is the sound of the waves receding on them. Worth seeing and worth returning to.

“Out of the way but interesting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2013 via mobile

The surf picks up the pebbles and polishes them smooth. It makes a cool sound. The beach seems about a mile stretch of a thick deposits of rocks and pebbles. The breakers are strong and with such loose stones I wouldn't swim there but it's fun to find so many interesting rocks. The rocks were diverse and smooth. I really enjoyed the sound it made. We were there at high tide.

“A mile-wide beach of smooth round stone”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2013

Have been here many times. It's a killer bicycle ride from Machias (not for the casual rider or children), or a scenic drive. The beach is unique and beautiful. You pull up to what looks like a big pile of stones - almost like a construction site. Walk over the pile and you're looking at a protected cove, standing on the lip of a mile-wide, forty foot-high bowl of stones.

It's not a swimming or a suntanning beach - it's an exploring and collecting beach.
