“Nice cottage”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

My husband, my 11 year old daughter and I spent a couple nights at Glenmoor by the Sea this past August. We were in the Breakers cottages, which is second row away from the waterfront. Upon arrival, the girl at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful. We found our cottage to be clean, bright and cozy. We were very pleased. This stay was the last of our Maine vacation and couldn't be happier. My dirty laundry was getting out of hand, so I went to the office to ask for change for the washing machine and dryer. I only had large bills and the office was not able to make change, so the girl in the office gave me the change I needed to do my laundry and said I could bring it back later. I thought that was so nice! This hotel is only a short way from Camden. Camden is a quaint boating town with lots of unique shops. We had a very nice time and would definitely stay again.

My family stayed in cottage 31 for 3 nights, and it was great! The room was very clean, but seemed very small to fit all 3 of us, We wished that it at least had a wall separating the bed area and sitting area. The staff and service was great! Ronda, our house keeper was very accommodating! And whenever you had a question staff was willing to answer. The stay was great and so was the view! However, the toilet had some problems and required plunging alot (usually after it rained there were problems). Also, the shower head was a little rusty. Overall, our stay was great!

I picked up a voucher for a two night stay at Glenmoor by the Sea on Groupon and it was a hit! We made it into a girls weekend of relaxing, sightseeing, eating and being ultimate tourists. Glenmoor is close to everything that Maine's midcoast has to offer. Camden is gorgeous, Linconville Beach is just right and Rockport is quaint. We stayed in the original motor court building and it was clean and comfortable. Pool #1 was right outside our door, talk about convenience. The grounds are beautiful and they offer a roaring bon fire each night for all to enjoy. The tiered decks going down to the water are fabulous and in the middle of adorable cottages is pool #2. Not to mention the older house on the property that has more rooms available in it. Extended continental breakfast was a nice touch and the staff was informative, friendly and all around great! They also offer incentive discounts to re-book on site for future stays as well as a discount if you book after you leave. Nice touch! We re-booked for another girls weekend the following year. It was a hit!

Room Tip: We stayed in the original motor court, which is up next to the highway, but if you like tranquility...

We stayed in one of the cabins, although it was not designated as "ocean front", it might as well have been. There was one row of cabins in front of us, but the way they are situated is perfect - far enough apart to both grant privacy and to have a very nice if not perfectly unobstructed view of the shore. A few steps from our cabin, we found the fancy staircase leading down to the rocky beach. my older daughter delighted in going down and back up and back down those steps to explore, collect rocks, etc. My husband and I stayed with our two girls, ages 5 and 3 months at the time, and while the space was adequate (queen bed, pullout love seat, and plenty of room for the pack and play) I would not recommend these specific accommodations for more children (or older/bigger children) than that. However, I'm pretty sure the super friendly and pleasant staff will work with folks to either provide the appropriate accommodations (different rooms/different areas), or suggest alternate accommodations that would be more suitable, as they are very knowledgable of and familiar with the local area. All of our activities and dining over the long weekend (lobster rolls, shopping/strolling areas, museums and a lobster boat tour) came from suggestions/recommendations from the front desk. We hope to go again many times before the little ones get so big that they need their own cabin! Lastly - the reason for the midroad rating on value is that we got this on an online deal which cost $299 for 3 days/2 nights, and I'm sure the regular rates are higher. Also, we paid an additional $25 for our 5 year old (the baby was free). I wasn't sure what the $25 surcharge was for, since there wasn't really anything extra required/provided due to her presence (we didn't need a cot or anything like that), but absolutely no complaints here as we had a fantastic time and the accommodations were fabulous. Also, we were given a ticket for a percentage off the price of our next stay when we checked out, ensuring our return next summer.

We stayed at Glenmoor for 3 nights and very much so enjoyed the stay. The room was very clean and looked just like the pictures. No musty smells, dirt, or mold. We have stayed at other Inns in the area, and this was definitely the most updated and well-maintained property thus far (within the same price range). On the negative side, be aware that the motel building (and the highlands cottages and inn building) are extremely close to the main highway Route 1. So if you are looking for an ocean view with the sound of ocean waves, you have to be in the cottages on the lower grounds. Otherwise, the only sounds you will hear are busy traffic noises throughout the night. Overall, the noise of the highway was my only complaint. Breakfast was good: cinnamon rolls, donuts, muffins, scones, toast, oatmeal, orange juice, coffee, tea, etc. Also, the staff is very nice, but often seem to be unable to prioritize their work (ie customers first). We would stay again, but would most likely pay for the lower cottages on the ocean. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Lower cottages that are oceanside.

We stayed at Glenmoor about a month ago and we really liked it. we stayed in a king room on the second floor of the carriage House. You could see Penobscot bay from our room as well as almost everywhere on the property. The room was really nice- we had a four poster bed, it was clean and nicely decorated.

The property itself is large- there are cottages, small rooms, large rooms, something for evryone. On Saturday, it was cold and foggy and they lit a bonfire for people to sit around. There is a frisbee golf course, a road down to the water. Next time I think I would like to stay in a cottage.

It's close to Camden with its lovely restaurants, shoppes and village atmosphere. It is also close to the Lincolnville lobster Pound- a great place for a lobster dinner.

Room Tip: There are so many types to choose from, look at each before deciding.

My husband and I stayed in a Breakers Cottage at Glenmoor by the Sea. The cottage was wonderful - in pristine condition. Everything was in working order. The view was incredible! The staff was very friendly; service was great! We will definitely return.

Room Tip: We were in the third row of cottages from the bay and still had an excellent view. i would choose a...
