Youngtown Inn Bed and Breakfast

Everything about the Youngtown Inn is well thought out. The rooms are comfortable and have excellent character and the property is beautiful. MaryAnn is an excellent hostess who is fun to chat with and will excitedly recommend her favorite activities and sites.

The Inn is home to perhaps the area's finest restaurant whose chef also prepares the morning breakfast. With experience staying at a number of bed and breakfasts, I can promise that you will quickly learn to appreciate the difference having a truly world class chef cooking your breakfast makes.

What a gorgeous place this is! We were greeted on our arrival by one of our hosts, Maryann (I hope I've spelled that correctly) She showed us around the property, which has a rich history, and to our rooms, which were beautifully decorated and very comfortable, we also had a lovely lounge area with tea & coffee and home made cookies or cakes on offer. She even got one of her strapping sons to carry our luggage upstairs to the rooms. The breakfasts were cooked by Manuel, Maryann's French husband, and very good they were too....we even taught them how to make a decent cup of English tea!! :D We ate dinner in the restaurant one night, that was excellent too. Overall a great visit, we would definitely stay again.

We, a family of five, spent three wonderful days at Youngtown Inn. The house displays a personal and warm charm, it is located in the midst of a most picturesque countryside, which offers plenty of outdoor activities. The cuisine was excellent, both breakfast and dinner prepared with utmost dedication. The hospitality of our hosts was outstanding.

We have been visiting Youngtown Inn in July every year for the past 16 years. You will not find a lovelier place to stay. Mary Ann and Manuel, the owners, are wonderful people. Manuel is my favorite chef. They have thought of everything you could possibly need and there are always fresh baked cookies, coffee or tea every afternoon in the common room. All rooms have flat screen TV's and air conditioning. We have stayed in most of the rooms, but #4 is our favorite.
Breakfast is always a gourmet feast and you probably will not need lunch.

As we pulled in the driveway late last Friday night (after 9:30 p.m.), the last diners were departing as Mary Ann and the staff were closing up the Inn's highly regarded french restaurant. "We were worried about you!" she exclaimed. "So glad you are here. Welcome to our home!" As our two-day stay revealed, her warmth was genuine, and she and Manuel's six-room Inn was a wonderfully comfortable and relaxing place to stay, in spite of the summer thunderstorms and driving rain that accompanied our delayed arrival. The room was large and comfortably appointed, the bath, roomy and squeaky clean, the common sitting area on the second floor well-furnished and with round-the-clock coffee service, and a medley of baked treats from Manuel's ovens. We left the balcony doors open both nights, and slept soundly in the crisp night air, eschewing the noise of the available A/C unit. The room is also equipped with a fireplace for colder seasons.

While the "Bed" part of the deal was superb, the "Breakfast" part was out of this world! A beautifully-plated fruit course, a baked treat, and a goblet of orange juice, plus Mary Ann, greeted us both mornings on the sunny front porch. Saturday's breakfast entre was a delicious, surprisingly light crab and cheese quiche. Maine means seafood! And Sunday's entre was "blueberry french toast," which presented much like a bread-pudding, drizzled in maple syrup. Late-July Maine also means wild blueberries.

Throughout our stay, Mary Ann was our solicitous guide, with great suggestions about area attractions, which we took advantage of around the wedding schedul that had brought us here. And Manuel greeted us at breakfast on Sunday to ensure our satisfaction with his morning meals.

Our only regret? We did not have dinner in the restaurant, and the menu suggests delectable French cuisine. We'll be back!

This is my second stay at this amazing B&B. MaryAnn and Manuel run an absolutely wonderful Inn and it was a pleasure to return here again.
Do stay at least two nights to fully experience all that they have to offer. We had dinner here both nights and the food was excellent and service could not have been better.
The breakfasts are amazing.
I had Room #3 which I really like.

So glad we stayed outside of Camden to visit this area. The traffic here can get a little congested and many (if not all) of the lodging options are directly on the busy main road (US1). The Youngtown Inn is situated at the base of a hill and nearly across the street from a lake, just a short 10 minutes outside Camden. Its peaceful and quiet... Our room (#4) was distinctly French accented and included a fireplace and sitting area - plus a shared balcony overlooking a field. The room was so large its basically a suite. The bathroom was roomy and had a small window offering plenty of light. Gorgeous original pine floors are still exposed all throughout the house. The fabrics were all French country-esque and in perfect condition...a soft, plump matress, soft sheets and feather pillows were a welcome site...everything was charming and spotless. The innkeeper Maryann greeted us with a smile and best of all had turned on the room's AC unit in advance to cool things off for our arrival. (This was in the midst of an unusual record-breaking heatwave). She is so thoughtful and a delight to talk with...she is also quite intuative and once she developed a sense of our needs was ready with a bucket of ice or whatever it was we needed. Each night we returned to find a dish of fresh baked cookies or cake in the public area where there was also a very convenient coffee maker for fresh hot coffee any time. This was truely one B&B where the innkeeper's attention to detail and friendly nature really makes your stay even better. While Maryann is a superb hostess, her chef-husband is a magician in the kitchen! His sauces, breads and breakfasts were the best we experienced during two weeks of B&Bs. We dining with them the first night on arrival and were surprised at the flavors and creativity of the food. Delicious! There are many places in town to eat, but truely nothing to compare with the sophistication of this intimate dining room. Breakfasts were supurb - a combination of more great sauces, breads, omlets and more. This is also a convenient place to stay for these reasons: just up the road is the local winery, up the hill is the blueberry field -- an easy hike through the woods with breathtaking views at the top, plus along Route 52 (the road you travel between Camden and Youngtown Inn) is a lake...ask the innkeepers where to access the lake for a cool dip on a hot day. I can't think of a single negative comment about staying here...except there is no water view, but we found that is very hard to come by unless you are renting a private house or cottage. The Youngtown Inn helped make our visit a fantastic memory!

Room Tip: Ask for room 4...large and has a fireplace, sitting area and a balcony.
