“Our favorite B & B anywhere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2011

My husband and I have been returning to this B & B yearly for the past 14 years. This is our favorite B & B anywhere. We love the atmosphere, friendliness and location since it is quiet but only 5 miles to the busy Camden area. The food is unequal, especially the fresh made crossants and souffle's. Breakfast is always a gourmet treat. Dinner is wonderful.

One could not ask for better host tha Manuel and Mary Ann. She is always ready to share interesting places to visit and things to see. Hopefully we will be able to return many more times since it always feels like coming home and we look forward to our next visit.

We stayed for our anniversary and had a beautiful spacious room. The queen iron bed was very comfortable and the linens were high quality. We especially loved the food and the innkeepers/owners!

This was our first time to Maine. The experience we had at the Youngtown Inn assures it won't be our last. Excellent lodging, food and overall hospitality. Room was very comfortable. It took less than 10 minutes to drive to Camden.

My wife and I stayed here in 2005 with some friends and have nothing but positive memories to share. It felt more like staying at a friend's country home than an inn. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The atmosphere is relaxing. We had one of the most memorable meals of our lives here that night. Truly outstanding. Chef rocked breakfast too- blueberry pancakes. Wow! This is a special place. I'm glad to see that 6 years later they are doing well. Would love to return one day.

My husband & I joined our friends from Alabama for a 2 night stay at Youngtown Inn. They love the Inn and return every year in July to celebrate a birthday. The Inn has many places to hang out and talk, on the upper floor, there is a large room with TV, books and games leading to a large wood deck with umbrella tables, a perfect place enjoy a bottle of wine and the fresh Maine air. Downstairs there is a warm and inviting bar area and an intimate candlelit dining room. We spent one evening in the bar area having a lot of fun -- MaryAnn makes a mean Irish coffee with real whipped cream!

MaryAnn and Manuel are the Innkeepers and they welcomed us like personal guests in their home. We enjoyed reading about how they met (on a cruise ship), married, had a family -- and of course the story of how they started the Youngtown Inn. I can't say enough about their warmth and hospitality -- our friends had become close to MaryAnn and Manuel and by the time we left we felt like we were close friends too.

As to Inn specifics -- We stayed in Room # 4, which is a beautiful room complete with fireplace and sofa and has air conditioning, flat screen TV, and free WiFi. We had a porch and chairs outside our room. The porch connected on the other side to our friend's room #2. Their room was really nice also and the connected porch made it easy to meet in the morning before going down the outside steps to the side parking lot.

Manuel is a French Chef and so the food at the Inn is terrific. The included breakfast each morning was absolutely out of this world. There was always fresh fruit to start, a giant flaky croissant or muffin, and a main dish like a fluffy pancake with peaches & blueberries, or scrambled eggs atop a potato pancake with smoked salmon. Definitely above and beyond the simple buffet breakfasts we normally expect and substantial enough to forego lunch.

We ate dinner at the Inn one night and it was truly special. The candle lit dining room is really elegant. There is also a porch room on the side where its quieter and you can enjoy the breezes thru the windows. The service was friendly and personal but not obtrusive. My husband ordered steak but the rest of us had the halibut with a mushroom sauce. Everything was delicious and upscale. As others have said the souffles are heavenly.

The Inn is located close to the Camden Harbor area where there are many shops and restaurants, boat tours, etc., and also to Camden Hill State Park where there are lots of hiking trails and even an auto road to the top of Mt. Battie.

I recommend Youngtown Inn for excellent French cuisine and a relaxing visit to the Camden area.

MaryAnn and Manuel Mercier are the warmest and most hospitable innkeepers. They excelled at sharing a unique and memorable midcoast Maine experience. Our Guest Room (#2) was charming and serene. It became the perfect place for me to escape with my book. The attention to detail was everywhere - from the fresh croissants and hot coffee in the morning to the herbs Manuel snipped from his garden each night for dinner. We agreed that the excellent rack of lamb alone was worth a return trip. We will happily recommend the Youngtown Inn and we will return there on our next visit to Camden. Make sure to leave room after dinner for the most decadent chocolate souffle you've tasted this side of the Atlantic.

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely.

If you are looking for a special dining experience on the Midcoast of Maine the Youngtown Inn is definitely your best choice. From the friendly and warm greeting you receive when you arrive to the fabulous desserts you will not be disappointed. The food is exceptional from beginning to end and the service matches the experience. I had the rack of lamb and it was the best that I have had in many years. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend. The owner/host and her husband who is the chef make this a great dining experience not to be missed if you are in the Camden area.
