“Great location!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2013 via mobile

The place is close to everything, but it is a bit antiquated, the bedding is worn out (sheets, pillows, bed spreads the need new ones) people that work there are great! The pool area was great, and the breakfast was good. I would stay here again

Dear Guest,
Thank you for choosing the Coachman Inn for your stay. We have discussed your concerns with our Executive Housekeeper. She has gone through all of the bedding and replaced worn items with upgraded items that will surely exceed our guests’ standards. Our guests’ comfort is very important to us. We thank you for bringing the matter to our attention. We look forward to seeing you at the Coachman Inn again soon!

We love to visit the Maine area at least twice a year, and always stay at the Coachman. It's very convenient for shopping and visiting other areas in Maine and New Hampshire.

The staff are always so friendly and helpful. We always recommend the coachman to family and friends that visit the area.

Room Tip: Rooms are spacious, and we like the north side on the ground floor.

This is a very nice hotel/motel near the Kittery Outlet stores. it is clean and has a friendly staff, a continental breakfast. Price is ok.
My wife and I encountered two problems staying there. One is fairly minor and the owners can easily fix it. It's this; the sheets on the bed felt like we were lying on canvas. Whether they were new and hadn't been washed yet or whether they are made out of something else beside cotton, I don't know.
The other problem is that in the room that we were in (#21), the wall between our room and our neighbours was very thin. We could hear the guests next door talking and later snoring. We were lucky that we didn't have noisy or drinking neighbours. The fix for this is more difficult. The owner would have to rebuild the wall and add sound insulation between the rooms.
- other minor details; styrofoam cups for the coffee instead of paper and toaster didn't seem to work well.
- good wi-fi
nice flowers on the tables though.

Room Tip: -rooms in the back face onto a nice green area.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay at the Coachman Inn. The cleanliness of our property is very important to us as is the overall experience for each of our guests.

Our sheets were recently replaced and washed prior to using them. As with any textile, the more washing/drying, the softer it becomes. Unfortunately, it sounds as though your bed was fitted with sheets that haven’t yet been repeatedly washed.

Our Inn was built in 1952 with an addition being made in 1978. The older rooms weren’t constructed with the same soundproofing technique that our newer rooms have. While the original rooms may lack in construction, our staff makes up for that in operation. If there are noise issues, we will promptly address them if brought to our attention.

We are considering paper cups rather than Styrofoam and appreciate your suggestion. Our toaster is high quality and professional grade. You didn’t note the problem you encountered with it but would welcome speaking with you directly so that you can better provide us with details.

We are delighted you chose the Coachman Inn during your recent stay in Maine. We do hope you will visit us again in the future.

My spouse and I have stayed here a number of times, using it as a vacation "way station" on our way to and from the "Mid-Coast" region of Maine. Our most recent visits were in late June 2013 and early/mid July 2013 for single nights. On all of our visits, we've found the front desk staff "on the ball" and have never had a problem with reservations, check in or check out. The rooms have always been for the most part clean and comfortable. my two negative comments on this being on the most recent two visits we observed that the carpet was really in need of cleaning (like serious shampooing, not vacuuming or something that the average housekeeping person could complete in between check-out and check-in turnover times). The hallway would also benefit from such treatment. Also, we could hear thumping and banging from an adjacent room until about 10:30 pm. (I suppose maybe I'm being over critical here on the noise as it was before 11:00 pm.).

The complementary "continental breakfast" is a nice touch and the items provided are quite good. What would upgrade this to "excellent" would be: To make it more "take back to your room" friendly, i.e. larger coffee cups with covers and larger cups (I think the current ones were 6 oz) cups for the juice. Some paper trays (like you used to get at the drive-in or still get at some take-out places). These improvements would really help convince me to upgrade my rating from "Very Good" to "Excellent".

Room Tip: There are "accessible" rooms for those who need them. If you do, make sure to inform them...

Thank you for your review and your continued loyalty to the Coachman Inn. We appreciate you noting the ease of the check-in/check-out process. Our staff at the front desk always strives to make our guests feel welcome.

Some of the carpets at the Coachman were replaced three years ago. Unfortunately, the color and grade of carpet allows for easy staining. While we have the carpets constantly cleaned, it is a challenge to keep them completely free of dirt and stains especially in high traffic areas. We are happy to say, however, that this winter, the rugs will upgraded to a higher quality and stain resistant carpet.

We encourage ‘quiet’ time after 10:00 pm. Our front desk is staffed 24 hours a day and we encourage you to notify us should you encounter any excessive noise after this hour during your next stay.

We offer ‘to go’ trays at the front desk for any breakfast items you wish to bring back to your room. In addition, there are lids for the 8 oz. cups that you may have not noticed at the time. This is something one of our staff members would have been happy to help you with.

It was our pleasure to welcome you and we truly appreciate your feedback.

We enjoyed this place. More than we were hoping to pay but we were happy with the locations, the pool and the room. We had three in our room and two shared a bed and said the beds were small but all in all we enjoyed our overnight stay.

We made the Coachman Inn our home base for 5 days in mid July 2013 for a family vacation, taking in the beaches of Maine and some outlet shopping.

The location can't be beat. We were able to hit Kennebunkport and Old Orchard Beach in 30 mins to the north, and Hampton Beach in NH 30 mins to the south. We also spent some time in nearby York, Wells & Ogunquit for beaches and dining.

Yes, the hotel is on the side of old US1, but it is not noisy at all. The nice outdoor swimming pool was directly across from our room, and was a nice inviting dip at the end of each day.

The rooms are basic, the beds so-so, good TV package. We had a "family suite" with a bedroom with 2 beds & bathroom for the kids, and a second room & bathroom for us.

We found the staff helpful & pleasant, and the included breakfast was nice to have in the morning for the basics to get you going.

Great value, great location in the Kittery, Maine area, especially during the high season when some hotels charge insane amounts. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Coachman Inn again.....

Room Tip: Forgot what an old school "motel" was like. So nice to park right in front of your room...

We are so pleased you chose the Coachman Inn to call home on your recent visit to Maine.

We take pride in our central yet 'quieter' location to the Kittery Outlets and many nearby beaches. We appreciate your reference to the room front parking. This is a great feature of the Coachman Inn. After a long day of driving or shopping, it is nice to walk right in to your room.

Thank you for your nice review of our property. We look forward to seeing you again!

My wife and I stayed at the Coachman Inn in Kittery while on our way to a fishing spot upstate in the Belgrades. We really like the place and will definitely stay there again on our next Maine trip. The Inn was very welcoming and they held our reservation when we needed to arrive late on a sweltering hot day. Our room was blessedly cool with great AC and the shower was wonderful. Our bed was comfortable and the room as a whole was well-laid out and spotlessly clean. We were able to park right outside our door and moving our luggage to and from the car was a breeze. The breakfast next day was very good and once again the people at the main desk were helpful and friendly. A nice way to start the day, we thought. An additional plus are the several comfortable common rooms. All in all, a great stay and we'll be back.

We are grateful that you chose the Coachman Inn! We were pleased to accommodate your late arrival during the recent 'heat wave' and happy that our A/C was able to provide you some relief! Our staff takes pride in the cleanliness of our rooms and we are delighted that your room met your expectations!
Thank you for your compliments and we hope that you caught lots of fish in the Belgrades!
