“Best healthy lunch place EVER!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2011

We were driving down from Quebec towards Bangor, and were in search of a lunch place. I happened to see a sign for The Orange Cat Cafe --- thank goodness!!

FANTASTIC LUNCH! I took one taste of my sweet potato/roasted red pepper soup and immediately told my husband that it was the best soup on the planet. It was. And everything else was amazing, too. The bread was thick and homemade, whole-grain, and healthy. Husband had a ham sandwich - thick-sliced ham, and fresh vegetables. He loved it, and I loved my humus sandwich. They had sweet treats which we didn't sample, but which were painful to turn away from. Hearty-looking, whole-grain -- yum.

The decor -- I loved it! Eclectic bunch of tables and chairs, comfy couches and upholstered chairs, plants and interesting whimsical sculptures scattered about. Lots of framed photos (all in colorfully-painted frames) of the famed orange cat -- and a bunch of anthologies of The Far Side for reading entertainment!

It's in a two-story very old brick building. It's two days later, and I'm still talking about The Orange Cat Cafe. Don't pass it by!! Wow.

“Spectacular cafe food in rural Maine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2011

Orange Cat is the type of lunch/breakfast place that establishments in New York or Boston would strive to emulate. The food is original, creative, fresh, and remarkably tasty; the portions are plentiful, and the decor is funky and congenial. It's a good thing it is in the middle of nowhere (not really, as it's on the road to Sugarbush skiing), otherwise it would be mobbed with people.
