This was our first visit to the Nonantum Resort and we LOVED it. The setting is absolutely gorgeous. The staff are helpful, friendly and very professional.
While the pool and hot tub are on the small side, they are clean and nice.
The hotel offers kayaking right out its back door on the river as well as lobster boat tours and sailing charters. We kayaked and rode on the lobster boat. It was awesome! Everyone at this resort is top class.
You also feel like you really get a great bargain here. Not only are the views fantastic, but there is a huge, delicious free breakfast buffet every morning, fun programs for families in the evening, kids eat free between 5 and 6:30 p.m., and the main part of town is just down the street.
We loved it so much we didn't want to leave!!!

Our parents and our family each booked one of these 4 night packages about a month before we went. You stayed in the older section as part of the package (the Carriage House), where the rooms are decorated in a Victorian Style that reminds you of staying with Grandma. Because we didn't book early enough, only one of us had a waterview room. You also get tickets for the trolley ride (great to do on your first day to get yourself oriented), and for the Funtown/Splashtown in Saco, which is excellent (the rides are good, the waterpark was packed until mid afternoon). The package includes all breakfasts (which are excellent - the buffet is one of the best we've seen), one pool side lunch (a limited menu but okay), and two dinners, which are also excellent. Great food, dinner music and nice views of the river. The beach bag and book are a nice touch too. Don't forget the boat ride. It was also excellent. The crew let my 8 year old steer the lobster boat. We checked 3 traps and caught 3 lobsters and several crabs. The tour guide was great.

a very nice place to stay. hotel management and staff of college age kids extremely pleasant and helpful in every way! rooms in carriage house small, old, but updated and clean. Only problem.....if you need an elevator you must call for a person to operate it. check before booking in that part of hotel. We checked portside rooms and they were beautiful with great views. package deals worth taking. we stayed three nights and booked again for August this year. family oriented

We stayed here for one night on our way to NH. The position on the river is very nice and the staff was very pleasant. The only thing I would say is that you have to understand the area. It's decor is "beachy New England" .. It's not high end like the west coast if that makes sense. It's relaxed.. the room we had was a water view in the "new" building and it was certainly above motel status. However it is not a hotel so dont confuse it for one. We paid $169.00 for the night which we found reasonable - our original reservation was fr $259.00 and we were told that was a "discounted" price from more than $300 per night. Apparently they were running a special for a "single saturday night" .. Staff was really very, very nice.

There are two sections of this place -- a modern and updated wing (not attached to the main building) and the main building which has not yet undergone renovation (but is due to).
The main building's rooms are very old and rather run down, but decent (no refridgerators in room), beds are rather old and floors are creaky, bathroom is actually ok and a good size.
The newer wing's rooms are very well appointed, modern and have refrigerators in the room.
The hotel is in a good location -- within walking distance of the main street, and food is decent.
Everything (inc the room) is rather overpriced for what you get.

The place is right on the river. It is outside of town. The grounds were nice. Staff was okay. The rooms were nice. My friend had a king corner room that was really nice. They have a cute little lighthouse on the grounds. Plus, boats dock right outside. We stayed in the annex, so we had to walk alot to the main building. The breakfast buffet was a big disapointment. Most everything was cold and not replenished. I would only go back if they gave me a good deal. There are much nicer places in the area for the same price. I only stayed here because most other places were taken. I tried to get rooms next to my friends but that did not happen. I had talked and told them but they had a bus load of people get there right after us and said they had the proriety since they were on their way. But in the long run, my frineds got a nicer room than they shoould have.

We stayed in the more modern block, which is closer to the river. I was worried it would be devoid of character but the room was big but cosy (in decor) with a fantastic view over the river. There was a wedding going on but they didn't disturb us at all - don't know if they were a particularly quiet bunch! There is a pool and jacuzzi (careful as it's concrete which can be a shock if you're not ready for it) and you can hire canoes to paddle into town, which I recommend. It's a great way to see the houses and yachts up close! The staff are friendly and helpful. The town itself has gift shops and restaurants and is really peaceful.
