“Best we've found in Ogunquit/Kennebunkport”
Reviewed April 24, 2012

We've been travelling in the area at least annually over the last 18 years and have stayed in some nice places, but none have been able to deliver the experience that Captain Lord Mansion did. Personal touches (guest list) anniversary champagne and chocolates, rooms that look every bit as they do in the photos, gave us a favorable impression upon arrival. Owners Rick and Bev have really created something with their quests that keep them coming back again and again. It wouldn't be uncommon to have breakfast with guests who were staying there for their 10th, 15th or even 20th time. All say the same thing...there's nothing to beat the beauty, comfort and warm feeling of this well-maintained and "modern" historic mansion.
We will be joining those who are able to call themselves repeat guests.

Dear Mapleville, Thank you for your encouraging review, especially saying that we are the "best". We truly appreciate feedback such as this from our guests. Yes, we maintain the historic nature of this wonderful old building, but we have provided lots of modern conveniences and tasteful modern amenities. We look forward to having you as one of our "regulars"! Your innkeeper, Rick Litchfield

This was our 4th stay at Captain Lord's. As usual, we had a wonderful time. This was our longest visit but we still didn't want to leave. Our room, the Harvest, was as beautiful as always. We like it for the decor, country antiques with a stunning mural above the fireplace. One lovely memory was the sun setting and casting a golden glow on the room as we relaxed before dinner. Our breakfasts each morning were hearty and beautifully prepared and served.( I was delighted to hear that a cookbook is in the works!)The atmosphere here is one of friendly elegance. The staff are efficient and friendly. They are very happy to make dinner reservations for you and also have many suggestions for activities or places you might like to go. We are already planning on our next visit. My husband is not a "bed and breakfast" traveller but he loves it here as much as I do!

Room Tip: We have stayed on the second and third floors. They were all quiet rooms. We liked the park and rive...

Dear Waldoboro, Four visits! Thank you! You are well on your way to the engraved garden stone. Thank you for your review and for your very encouraging words. We especially like your description that we provide "friendly elegance"! That is what we strive for. I especially like the way you describe the atmosphere of your guest room with the sun setting and the glow of the fireplace. It make me want to take a room for Bev and I! This was our first visit, we were only able to stay one night, eve of our anniversary, but quickly found it very relaxing and comfortable. The attention to detail was wonderful, seems like they have thought of everything and then some. The staff was great, they were friendly, quite competent and efficient, there when needed and otherwise quietly 'invisible'. The room was spotlessly clean, nicely furnished and well prepped. Breakfast was spot on, something for everyone's taste and all well prepared and presented. Be sure to check out the view from the cupola, as well as the art and other interesting items inside and out. We look forward to visiting again, and soon.

Dear Berwick, In your review, you use a wonderful word from the past (Huzzah) to describe your experience. Thanks for that "word of the day"! Also, thank you for mentioning the various aspects of your stay that impressed you. Bev and I appreciate that the hard work of our selves and our staff doesn't go unnoticed. We do look forward to your next visit. Your innkeeper, Rick Litchfield

It was our first trip to the "Captain Lord" and won't be the last. The room was beautifully furnished and spacious. The bathroom lovely and spotless. We loved the linens so much we ordered the identical ones we we returned home. Though normally wary of B&B's the experience was first rate, the staff is teriffic and leave you your space. This will become a regular part of our New England sojurns.

Room Tip: We stayed in the "Oriental" room which is a spacious first floor room but I am sure any ro...

Dear Thompson Cove, Thank you for your review of "your wonderful experience". You mention our cleanliness; our staff does an amazing job of making sure the whole inn is "spotless". Bev and I are very particular about the inn's cleanliness. Additionally, we are pleased that you intend to make our inn a "regular part of your New England sojourns". Your innkeeper, Rick Litchfield

Dear Mansfield, Thank you for your review for you first stay at the Captain Lord Mansion. Bev and I are so grateful that so many reviewers mention our friendly, helpful staff, time after time. It is very rewarding to us , the owners, that our staff treats our guests with such genuine hospitality. There are many beautiful lodging establishments with no "heart"; we are thankful our staff gives our inn real warmth! We too look forward to your return visit. Your innkeeper, Rick Litchfield

This was our first stay at the Captain Lord Mansion, and we hope to return soon. The accomodations were beautiful and the attention to detail was excellent. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The breakfasts/snacks were superb, and the recommendations were perfect. I cannot say enough about our stay and highly recommend this B&B. It was an easy walk to restaurants and shops and a very beautiful neighborhood to stroll around in. We will definitely stay again.

It wa our seventh stay at the Captain Lord Mansion. Rick and Bev continue to provide truly wonderful accomodations. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very comfortable to spend time in. Rick and the staff always provide recomendations for things to do that meet the nededs of their guests, whether it is for outdoor adventures, options for dinner, sightseeing, or shopping. Breakfast in the kitchen is an experience not to be missed. The interaction with the other guests and the chef make the Captain Lord Mansion experience unlike any other. Chef Sue remembers evry guest she has served in the past and makes them feel truly at home in her kitchen. The food is fantastic!
