My wife and I recently returned from a lovely weekend at the Captain Lord Mansion. Bev and Rick are friendly hosts who know how to run a high quality inn. The other staff members are very professional and efficient, but are also very warm. The inn and its surroundings are beautiful - virtually guaranteeing an excellent get-away.

Charming ,warm, hospitable, beautiful location. If you choose, a great place to relax by the fire and meet new people. WONDRFUL goodies in the kitchen every afternoon. Perfectly private rooms where you can relax and unwind.
Interesting history to the mansion, and surrounding area.

This was our 9th visit to the Captain Lord. We keep returning because the service is always wonderful. The staff is helpful and willing to guide us in things to do, places to see, or places to dine. It never amazes me that after nine visits, they still come up with new things for us to do. March is the off season in Maine, but nothing could be better than that, when all you want to do is get a way and do nothing but relax and worry about whether to eat lobster or clams for dinner. The first Saturday of every month the owners also offer a special wine tasting in the winter months and cocktail hours in the summer months. It's another way to get more for your dollar!

The rooms< all named after Captain Lord's ships, are all unique in their own ways, our favorite is the Mary Lord....it has a jacuzzi, hydro-shower, steam-shower with enough body sprays to soak a baseball team.

No matter how many times we stay, it's always a winner! I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else!

Dare to imagine the quintessential b&b and here you are. It was our Christmas gift to one another this year and will be for years to come. From the smallest detail we were completely happy, beyond words, and we will return annually. They know what their guests seek and just how to provide it. Tough to find a fault here.

We were sent to the Captain Lord by our daughter for our aniversary. This was our first time - and surely will not be our last. The service was unbelievable - the food incredible - the atmosphere and decor simply breathtaking. There was not one thing about our weekend that was bad.
We even put in a note for Sunday's breakfast that my husband could not have Feta cheese and they made him his very own souffle without the cheese to accommodate his needs. Truly amazing.
We stayed in the Hesper Room - GORGEOUS.
AND We hope that everyone takes advantage of a cupful of the Glogg - and buys their own package to make it at home - comfort in a beverage not to be forgotten!
And lest we forget the 6 inches of snow that fell Saturday into Sunday and they cleaned off our car and shoveled us out in prep for check out.
Thanks for a wonderful stay - what a great weekend we had!
This is one B&B not to be missed!!

This was our second stay at this luxury "Ship Captain's" B&B. We had luxurious accomodations on the third floor, with four-posted king bed, gas fireplace, fine linens, bath with jet-tub and heated tile floor, great views of lawn overlooking river. The service and amenities here are unsurpassed. Our hot breakfasts included homemade hot blueberry muffins, raspberry pancakes, maple sausage, fresh fruit salad, and prepared and served by chef Dave. We received many extras in their "February is for Lovers" special, such as a bottle of Proseco, and homemade cookies in recognition of our repeat visit. We had specially ordered chocolate covered strawberries when we booked, and they were there waiting for us. This room ("Regulator") had an antique Victorian bird house and many other interesting items. The bedding is the very finest that money can buy. In the afternoon, there is hot mulled cider, fresh baked danish and cheese and crackers in the kitchen for you. You can get self-service coffee/tea/hot chocolate 24/7 on the main floor. We met some interesting travellers in the family style seating in the kitchen for breakfast. Portland, less than an hour drive, has lots of shops and restaurants. The scenery in Kennebunkport harbor and beech is beautiful. You can drive to see various lighthouses nearby. You will really feel pampered at the Captain Lord Mansion. Flat screen t.v.'s were added since our last visit and were a nice addition. This is the best place for a getaway, and weekdays are a special value.

The staff at Captain Lord were wonderful to deal with. Responses to requests or issues were dealt with promptly and courteously. The breakfasts every morning were delicious and the portions were generous. Special requests were eagerly managed. The lodging was luxurious and comfortable.

The only criticism we had during our stay was that the rooms were a little on the "warm" side on the 3rd floor even with the heat off in the room and the windows open.

The New Years eve party/dinner was a little bit of a disapointment for the amount they charged. There was no music, and the food service was a little bit disjointed with big gaps in the timing of the food presentation. Some of the portions were stingy and the last hour waiting for midnight seemed to last an eternity. There could have been a little more attention to livening up the party and a funcitoning clock counting down the last minutes would have been a nice touch. When we stay next year, we may go out to one of the local restaraunts to celebrate new years eve.

Overall, highly recommended!
