Having just visited 5 Hotels in the New England in the past 14 days I can report that this establishment readly exceeded all others. I visited.
An excellent score can be given for position , cleanliness, comfort and quality of the building and the rooms The hosts and staff were exceptionally friendly attentive and interested in ensuring their guests enjoy their stay. Recommendations for places to visit and for restaurants were excellent and reservations were made on our behalf. Breakfasts were excellent as were the complimentary snacks and beverages laid on for tea and into the evening.
Its a small friendly place with close attention to detail- its well worth the money - we will return.

Nothing but compliments to the kind innkeepers, the beautifully designed and maintained room, the generous breakfast. A fireplace, a hot tub, snow outside and beloved one inside - it was too hard to leave after only one night!

We recently stayed at The Captain Jefferds Inn and had a wonderful time. We have stayed their many times over the past five years. They have new owners who are very kind and accomodating. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and pampered. The breakfast is out of this world. My only complaint is that if you get one of the smaller rooms they are just not as nice. The beds are very comfortable but the bathrooms are old and dated. We stayed in California and the shower was terrible. It was a mist of water. We then had to move to the Florida room and the shower wasn't very functional in that room either. The fireplace suites are the best. The California suite also has a pet smell because some of the rooms are pet friendly which is fine but I don't like to smell pets on vacation. If this is an issue for you, you might want to specify a non pet friendly room. Overall this place is wonderful and we will definately return.

Just got back from two nights at the captain jefferds inn. It was a wonderful experience. The inn is very clean, breakfast delicious, and within walking distance to the town. The owners help with reservations and suggestions for dinner. Great outlet mall about 45 min. north in freeport. Recommend Allison's for the best lobster roll in town. Stayed in the Manhattan room and it was very nice.

My husband and I stayed at the Captain Jefferd's Inn for three nights in celebration of our first wedding anniversary. The service was top notch, the breakfasts were absolutely delicious, and our fellow guest were a jovial bunch. Rooms were very clean, and the Inn, itself, is in a tremendous location in relation to downtown Kennebunkport. My husband and I didn't use our car once. If you are serious walkers like us, you won't have to use your car either.

The only gripe that you might have with the Inn is the fact that you are pretty much required to socialize each morning over breakfast. You can opt to enjoy your morning coffee by yourself in the backyard, but you can't eat breakfast on your own. If you are a not a morning person, this will not be much fun for you. Oh, and the bedspreads and wallpaper are a bit dated. But otherwise, this is a lovely and charming Inn that will not disappoint!

My husband and I just spent a perfectly serene week-end at the Captain Jefferds Inn. The inn's attention to detail was superb. Highlights include the soft classical music playing in our room as we entered, the chocolates by our bed and the fresh cut flowers in the sitting room. Breakfast was perfect. The setting, complete with flowers and candles, was beautiful. During the first day, we were served fresh fruit, pound cake and blueberry stuffed pancakes. During the second day, we were served brandied bread pudding, muffins and a fritatta. All of this was homemade, all accompanied by fresh squeezed orange juice and fresh delicious coffee. Another highlight was the homemade cranberry oatmeal cookies the innkeepers served with afternoon tea. The Captain Jefferds is a short stroll away from Dock Square, the heart of Kennebunkport. It is a very short drive away from beaches and Walker Point, the site of the George Bush estate. I cannot say enough positive things about the inn. My husband and I will definitely be back. (Also, the best lobster in town is at Nunan's Lobster Hut in Cape Porpoise. They only take cash and checks. They are only open for dinner - after 5 pm.) Enjoy Kennebunkport!
