The Cottages at Cabot Cove

Certificate of Excellence

My husband and I spent a beautiful weekend at a perfect little cottage in Kennebunkport Maine on July 28th and 29th. There is a feeling of elegance surrounding this property but everything is relaxed and understated. The setting was a perfect view of the cove with the ocean just beyond, the weather was sunny and warm during the day with a cool breeze at night. We kayaked (complementary) out to the harbor in the afternoon, sat out on our private patio in the early evening and enjoyed a glass of wine, watching the sunset from our cottage, aptly named "Sunset". We could walk to dinner or drive a very short distance into town with many excellent restaurants. Our cottage was brand new, beautifully decorated, with all new appliances, cable tv, a spacious bedroom with a queen size bed and high quality linens. The ceiling fans turned slowly all night and kept the temperatures so cool, we had to use our coverlet (in late July!). Bob and Carol with wonderful hosts. Along with the attention we received from their assistant Michelin, I thought I was at a 5 star hotel. We can't wait to get back and visit again!

We visited these "cottages" last weekend and were GREATLY DISSATISFIED. Caroll, who calls herself an innkeeper is the most unprofessional woman I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. First of all these units have no air conditioning which is not mentioned on the website. When I mentioned this to Carol she said oh it will cool down tonight - yeah it was about 85 in the bedroom at 9:00 pm with NO FANS. Also the bed was so bad my husband spent the night in agony and I had to sleep on the floor in the living room under the ceiling fan. When this was brought to her attention the next morning she could not have been more rude. We cut our stay short and checked out. I had to phone her twice the following week to make sure we were credited for the night we didn't stay and she refused to fax me a copy of my receipt telling me that "she already put a stamp on an envelope and that was all I was going to get" then she hung up on me. This woman obviously needs lessons in managing this establishment - she is also the former innkeeper of another hotel in Kennebunk The Ocean View Bed and Breakfast Inn and she apparantly has a reputation of being quite rude. If you would like to experience a first rate hotel in Kennebunk vist The Beach House - the staff is superb, Carol could learn alot from them!!

we stayed one nite at this cottage and I loved it. Although it was pricey..we splurged!!!!!!!!!!! they are the cutest places and decorated so beautiful! Micheline was gracious and helpful...they left us some port wine to sip........and gave us a delicous breakfast delivered to us in the morning........homemade banana bread, with fresh oj.......fritatta and wonderful fruit with creme fresh and granola! we could have rented kayaks there etc...but our stay was short. Id recommend them highly if you could splurge a bit! close to town... the one drawback was that there was no AC, however it was cool...so we didnt feel the need for it. that was just how we felt , but they were the quaintest, prettiest places I have ever seen!!!!!!!!! thanks again!
