We really enjoyed our first meal at Bandaloop last night. The place has a hip/earthy-crunchy/youthful feel to it. The bar was buzzing, live music was great and our server was really friendly and patient despite having a lot of tables to keep tabs on. Where it shined was the food - from the hearty two-color beet salad and the avocado salad to crispy crab cates to the "perfect" lamb dish to the simple but yummy poached lobster and pasta - everything just had an amazing freshness to it. Not a lot of heavy sauces or processed anything.
It's not the typical snoozy Maine seafood place - no baked stuffed shrimp or scallops in 19 different configurations involving Ritz crackers, but a fun, off-the-beaten path kinda place with really interesting food.
