We really enjoyed our first meal at Bandaloop last night. The place has a hip/earthy-crunchy/youthful feel to it. The bar was buzzing, live music was great and our server was really friendly and patient despite having a lot of tables to keep tabs on. Where it shined was the food - from the hearty two-color beet salad and the avocado salad to crispy crab cates to the "perfect" lamb dish to the simple but yummy poached lobster and pasta - everything just had an amazing freshness to it. Not a lot of heavy sauces or processed anything.

It's not the typical snoozy Maine seafood place - no baked stuffed shrimp or scallops in 19 different configurations involving Ritz crackers, but a fun, off-the-beaten path kinda place with really interesting food.

This restaurant has the most wonderful food. It's a true dining experience and if you're a foodie, we think you'll love it.

The atmosphere is very romantic. Wine list is limited but decent selection. The sake is a real treat (if you like sake).

The only draw back is the service. We were there recently on a slower night. A few of the waitress's friends dropped by and we ended up feeling like an after thought. Another night the service was slow. This is not a big deal if you are looking for a leisurely dinner but for others it could be quite annoying. Despite this though, it's still a fabulous restaurant and one we highly recommend.

If you are visiting Maine for the beautiful seacoast or the quite countryside, heck even if you live there, Bandaloop is worth a trip of its own. The food is fresh, flavorful and like nothing in the area. Creative is a perfect description for both food and atmosphere. The crew behind Bandaloop are of their own, artful and lively. A wide variety of drink with excellent skill behind the bar. Owned and operated by the head chef and wife team.
If great food isn't enough Bandaloop also has live music on Friday nights.
Features and caters to vegetarians, vegans, meat lovers, local farms, organic produce, allergy and gluten free dishes and children.

Bandaloop is relatively new to KPort. We've eaten there twice--the summer it first opened and the last week of '09. Both times the food was excellent and the service friendly. They use a lot of local organic food when possible. The mussels were prepared and served well in a very light cream sauce. A bi-color beet salad with field greens and chevre was huge and filling. I stuck to one side of the menu. Husband had a huge pork chop on mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes with garlic and cheese. Hearty for a cold night. The creme brulee was light and subtle. It's one of our new favorite places.

Bandaloop is a hip restaurant in Kennebunkport that serves up originals with a twist. You'll find great meats, local fish and seafood, and many other great food items. If you're looking for a calm romantic evening, this is not the place...If you're looking to see and hear the chefs prepare your meal in a jazzy environment, this is the place to be. They also have a great wine selection and cozy patio. In the area? Don't miss it.
