“One of the best in the Port”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2014

We could only get an early reservation for Sat night, but it turned out well because they offered a prix fixed three course dinner for $30 up to 6:30pm. We all loved our food. Two had the shrimp with pasta which included a baked half garlic bulb. Both the appetizers and the desserts were lovely. Service was excellent, the view of the water added flavor to our dinner. We will be going here again. The only downside was the very close table arrangements.

“No need to lie!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2014 via mobile

We have been coming to the hurricane several times a year for nearly 10 years. This year we attended with our one-year-old daughter. We were the only table occupied at 5pm. We asked if it would be possible to get a high-chair and, when front-of-house stopped playing with her phone we were informed we could have a booster-seat. After sitting down, three staff had a whispered conversation after which we were told all the booster-seats were in use! We were then reluctantly served drinks and suspect we would have been refused food if a local friend we were meeting there who is known to the staff hadn't arrived. The entirely unapologetic manager upon being told we were made to feel unwelcome had a 'busted' look on her face but merely started complaining we were only the fourth table they'd served all day. This wasn't a major surprise. We perfectly understand that a number of restaurants don't wish to have children as guests, but make that clear and don't take our money whilst making us feel unwelcome. The food certainly doesn't make the attitude worth putting up with any longer and we won't be returning. News I suspect that would be met with total indifference by the staff at the hurricane. Such a shame to see how far a former great restaurant has fallen.

“Lovely view and waitstaff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2014

The view is pretty as you can see the river and the town. The waitress had a smile on her face all the time and made us feel welcome. I enjoyed the lobster sandwich and thought it was worth $19. It came with delicious, but salty, sweet potato fries. There is a fine bar when you first walk in. They have a great selection of oysters also.

“The best tempura tuna rolls I have had”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2014

From the outside Hurricane looks like a quiet small bar and restaurant. Stepping inside reveals a large, busy restaurant with plenty of welcoming staff. They serve a variety of fish and meat dishes and have a good choice of US wines. While they dont hAve a kids menu they offer a variety of simpler/smaller dishes for children.

All our food was excellent, my particular favourite was the tempura tuna rolls which were wonderful. All the food was very well cooked and very well presented. The restaurant has a really nice feel about and is located right on the waterfront
