We dined at the White Barn Inn the prior evening so we wanted to have a more low key local dinner. Hurricane was perfect for our needs.

When we arrived, the bartenders were efficient though not overly friendly. We got lucky & were given a waterfront table! The room itself is very loud but it is what it is and this isn't the place you go to for a quiet romantic dinner.

Unfortunately, and this isn't the restaurants fault, we were seated next to an eight person table and one of the ladies sitting at the table was screaming the whole time. All the other tables were looking at her. Oh well.

Now onto the food. My wife and I each started with oysters and they were outstanding. My wife had a lobster for dinner and was very happy with same. I had the restaurants famous lobster chowder followed by a shrimp scampi entrée which I thought were good but not great.

Our 21-year-old waiter was very nice but seemed overwhelmed and was clueless about the wine list. That was shame.

Anyway, this is a pretty decent seafood place in the middle of town and within walking distance of a lot of the hotels. It's nice to have the option of a good local seafood place. Go for the food not the service or ambience. I strongly suggest advance reservations during the summer.

My wife and I had dinner here the other night and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's located right downtown on the bridge and has harbor and river views. It was crazy busy when we got there but we were seated right away. A reservation is key. The drinks were good and the service was very attentive but not over bearing. We had the lobster chowder which was awesome as well as Oysters Rockefeller and Clams casino also very good. I had the brined double cut pork chop and my wife had the lobster. Well prepared. perfectly cooked and reasonably priced.
A great choice when visiting Kennebunkport.

Came on a Friday, was seted by thewater with closed window views. Lobster rolls and crabmeat sandwiches were both great as we sat in the simple but tasteful decor of the restaurant, overlooking the bridge to "The Port" and seeing kayakers float by. The lobster roll has little to no mayo or fillers, as expected, and the crabmeat was served on toasted sourdough bread with havarti dill. The bread could have been grilled a tad more, but it was very good. We also had the sweet potato fries which were crispy and seasoned well. Topping off, we had the Chocolate Hurricane, a chocolate mouse with godiva chocolate...yummy!

Couple of notes:

There is no outdoor seating at this restaurant, would be really great if they could swing it. There are others close by that have this option, a matter of choice.

The bar looked very fiendly, several locals, and lots of Red Sox memorabilia, especially about YAZ.

Overall, when you go in the summer, it is very crowded in the Port area, be prepared to pay $20 for parking on weekends in the summer, and idle a bit as you go through this bottleneck town.

This is a reasonably priced restaurant which provided us with the best meal on our New England tour. The highlight was the seafood 'stew' which include half a lobster and $10 off a bottle of wine.
