After spending a day in town we decided to find a hotel for the night and wandered into the Yachtsman. The front desk staff were very helpful and went our of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Our room had a great view of the river and had a private patio which was a perfect place to to relax after a day of sight seeing. I would definitely recommend the Yachtsman.

This room was AWFUL!!! Musty smell gave us a headache the entire time.
Manager rude and arrogant!! Overpriced for a "Motel 45" Don't know who they think they are. Been in $300 Hotels and this doesn't even come close to a $100 hotel. Would NEVER return. Other hotels in town are cheaper and nicer. Must be why they don't give refunds once you place your reservation! a sucker is born every 30 seconds don't be one!!!!

After extensive research, my husband and I decided to stay here for our
anniversary trip. I have to say that I was extremely pleased with our
choice. SOoo many of the hotels and B&B's here make it seem like they
are right on the water, when in reality, almost EVERY single one
(except the Yachtsman) is across the street from the water or beach. I
knew that I wanted to be on the water (even if it was just "the river",
as they like to call it), and yet close to the little shops and
resturants and the beach. The Yachtman has it all---the PERFECT
location. The hotel used to be a strip-type "motor-lodge", but has been
totally remodeled. My husband loved being able to park right in front
of our door---which was shaded with lovely foliage and was very
private. Craftman-style light fixtures flank the door, and the rooms
are beautifully appointed. Crisp white duvet covers over down
comforters, granite countertops in the bath, fluffy robes and beautiful
beaded-board walls all let you know you are in a serene and elegant
place. Right off of our patio was a well manicured lawn that sloped
diectly into the water. The hotel is on what everybody calls "the
river", but it rises with the tide and is salt water. Across the river
is a gorgeous nature preserve, part of a monestary. The Yactsman has
bikes and canoes that can be borrowed, which was a HUGE plus. We only
used our rental car once during our three day trip, and that was to
drive to dinner at the White Barn Inn. (I didn't feel like riding a
bike in a dress and heels!) We used the bikes everyday, and found them
to be the ideal transportaion in this bustling little town. The ONLY
thing that wasn't perfect about the room was a slight musty odor, but
everything else was perfect.Another great thing about the Yactman was
the breakfast. It is served on a little terrace shaded with large
umbrellas, but there is also a small indoor seating area. Classic music
plays softly in the background while you eat. FRESH squeezed (yeah-the
REAL DEAL) orange juice, homemade muffins, bread, and granola are just
a few of the highlights. There was also a different quiche everyday,
which was wonderful!! Overall, we loved everything about this hotel. It
was very private, in an ideal location, the room was beautiful, and the
service was great. We would stay here again in an instant.
