Loved staying here this past weekend. Kate at the front desk was incredible helpful in finding and reserving dinner plans, and our room was clean and spacious. The internet didn't work in our room but they have a computer in the lobby, and we loved being so close to the ocean without being stuck in the town traffic.

The Rhumb Line is a throwback to the 1950's style resort, and outwardly nothing much has changed since then. It is definitely not Marriott quality, but it does have a rustic charm that we came to enjoy. The facilities and rooms are clean, and the beds were particularly comfortable. Sleeping was excellent with the cool Maine air. The outdoor area caters to families with its large pool, open air eating (the food was very good and you cant beat the convenience) and friendly bar, as well as whiffle ball, bean bag games, and plenty of room to play Red Rover. There is also an indoor pool and workout room for those so inclined. While the resort is a little isolated from town, it is only a short five minute ride to the village with it myriad of restaurants and shops. The 'Trolley' tour which picks up and drops off at the Rhumb Line is a bit over priced (be sure to ask about family rates and/or senior discounts), and acts too much like an ad agency for the local businesses, still it was a worthwhile way to hear of the history and to get your bearings, as it circles the entire Kennebunkport/Kennebunk area. The staff were all very pleasant and accommodating. We had a few minor problems that were addressed quickly. It was apparent that they all wanted to make our stay pleasant and to that end it was 'mission accomplished'!

We enjoyed our stay for the price. There was free Internet and free parking. Lack of an elevator was a problem with luggage because we were on the third floor. Ask for the newer rooms when checking in, the older ones are very dated. The best thing about the resort was the lobster bake. It was so tasty and reasonably priced. The young men working the bake and the bartender were outstanding. They even grilled our lobster after they steamed it. It is a very relaxing place to stay.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Rhumb Line on our first visit to Kennebunkport, ME. Although it is a little bit out of town, it was very easy to find our way to town and several good restaurants recommended by Katie. From our first contact with Katie we knew we had found our own personal concierge who happily picked up the phone and made reservations for 2 dinners and the whale watching cruise. She also made sure that the restaurants could accommodate my need for gluten-free food. She was very funny and very engaging even when others needed her attention. We did eat one night at the pool restaurant, which was also very good-I had steamers and my husband had a burger. The only negative was the lack of cell phone service and spotty internet access. But they do provide and outgoing 800# for any calls you may need to make.

Room Tip: Ask for an updated room.

My family recently stayed at the Rhumb Line and were very happy with the accommodations! The room was spacious and very clean. Although we had one of the older rooms, the beds were comfortable and everything was in perfect working order. We had direct access to the beautiful pool area, via a back door in our room. There was a small patio with chairs. The grounds are very well kept. Pools and hot tubs were clean. The price was fantastic! We will definitely stay again! The only downside, a little further from the beach then we prefer, but on the trolley line.

Room Tip: The poolside room was very convenient!

We had a lovely stay at the Rhumb Line Resort. I think we had one of the refurbished rooms and it was lovely. The bed was great, the linens very nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. It is one of the trolley stops which made it easy to get around Kennebunkport

Unfortunately this is not worth the money. Things started off poorly upon check in. The person at the Front Desk had us waiting at the front desk for 15 minutes while she took a phone call to book a room. There was no AC and it was in the middle of a heat wave. The rooms smell of urine and are a bit rundown. you get the sense that the place needs a good scrubbing. They charged us extra money for having an extra person in our room (surprised anyone does this anymore and should make no difference considering we had two beds in the room). They were extremely stingy on towels. The pool was packed as i believe they also allow outside folks to use the pool with a pool membership. The lounge chairs were filthy. The food at the pool was ok but took WAAAAY too long. If you are looking for a low rent motel with a pool this is your place, otherwise - i'd steer clear.
