“Great old course”

Cape Arundel Golf Club

Owner description: Eighteen-hole Scottish-links layout is a challenge due to water on 13 holes, small greens and the presence of sand bunkers at every hole.

This is mostly a links course with water on a least a dozen holes. Beautiful views and an old-time golf feel. Former President Bush is a member, and often plays there with PGA Tour players and other celebrities, but you can still get a tee time as a member of the public. It's not a long course, but it's fun and since it is over a hundred years old, it is the most authentic golf course within 30 miles of Kennebunkport except for York Tennis and Golf, which is private.

When traveling to Maine I have played at several very nice and challenging courses BUT this one is in a special class. The best advice I can give to anyone planning to play this course is make asure you rent or purchase a construction hardhat. There are several tees where balls are coming at you from 3 or more directions...this is one course you should remove from your list of 'must play'. Sure, if you are a history buff, visit the clubhouse pro shop and look at some pictures then leave for your tee time at another course.

What a wonderful course to play. You might run into the president or his father the ex president or a pro up for a visit. Athletes , politicians you never know. The course will make you think you are in Ireland or Scotland with rolling fairways and magnificent greens that challenge your ability to roll them up and down and sideways. So much history here you could spend hours in the clubhouse alone. The course is not long but it is a shot makers heaven. Only miles from Boston and a great memory maker. You have to put this one on you next New England vacation.
