Dear mma_50:

Thank you for your glowing review from your experience at Hidden Pond. It makes me happy to know that you enjoyed the accommodations, landscape and staff, all the same! The outdoor shower is one of the most popular features of the cottages. We feel it is part of the quintessential Maine experience.

See you soon!

We just returned from Hidden Pond and have promised ourselves to try to return very soon. So many superlatives: the meal at Earth (the best foie gras I have ever had), our bungalow, our massages, the grounds, the staff who were very gracious, helpful and welcoming. It is truly a magnificent spot in an equally magnificent setting. The gardens are beautiful as are the pools. We sat by the fire pit one night after dinner which was the perfect finish to a perfect meal. Hidden Pond is a jewel and we would recommend it unconditionally

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the one-bedroom bungalows which were quiet and peaceful.

Dear Toni S:

I hope that you do return! Hidden Pond is just as fantastic in May as it is in September, if you're looking for a similar month to come. We'll be sure to keep foie on the menu when you happen to return. I'll send your compliments to the chef!

Thank you for your high praise and for supporting what we do here at Hidden Pond. Wishing you an excellent Fall until we see you again.

From the moment you turn into the forrested driveway, you become aware of something special awaiting you. Exquisitely landscaped grounds, meticulously designed exterior and interior house size cottages, a charming welcome center, flower and vegetable gardens, hiking trails, courtesy bicycles, wedding reception center all in the midst of a peaceful forest are things that put this place in the over the top category. This is our first visit with other friends and we are already looking to make plans for our return here. A resevation at the spa made by husbands for their wives will definitely get you plenty of 'thank you's". Beaches and the center of Kennebunkport are about a 10 minute drive.

Room Tip: Choose a 1 or 2 bedroom unit with full kitchen. They are all great!

Booked a 2 day mid-week celebration for our 30th anniversary, and it was exceptional. A private bungalow to ourselves in the woods, complete with screen porch and chaise for toasting, a large bedroom with high ceilings, sitting area, and fireplace, and an outdoor shower for two. The friendly staff arranged transportation to a great restaurant nearby, but when they came for the pickup, my wife fell on some stairs and needed a trip to the ER. The Hidden Pond crew supported us every step of the way, arranging a car from the hospital to our room at 1am. When we needed to depart a day early, they credited the last nights stay without a question.

Great spot, great people, thank you! We will come again!

We were fortunate enough to win this weekend stay at Hidden Pond which made this trip all the better. :-). The accomodations were top notch. We stayed in a bungalow which was plenty of space for the 2 of us. Very comfortable and nice to have the screened in porch. The breakfast basket each morning was a nice touch. Dinner at Earth on Friday night was excellent. Great food and atmosphere. We spent half the day at Goose Rocks Beach on Saturday. It was a quick bike ride to get there. I even did a paddle board tour with Marcio and that was a lot of fun. We each got massages at the Tree Spa on Saturday afternoon that helped to relax us after the busy day. Overall, a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone. If you can manage to win the "'all expense paid" trip like we did then go for it!

Room Tip: The bungalows are a perfect size for a couple. They cottage is much better suited for 2 couples or...

I am so happy to hear that you enjoyed a relaxing and "top notch" getaway at Hidden Pond. It sounds like you caught us on a beautiful weekend as you were able to enjoy the beach and an afternoon of paddleboarding. Marcio is a great teacher and loves meeting new students -- I hope you had fun!

I hope to welcome you back to Hidden Pond for a future stay!

We found Hidden Pond by googling best b&b in Kennebunkport, and we fell in love with it. You truly feel like you are away from the world. This place has NYC sophistication/high quality expecations and a 5 star rocky mountiain lodge feel. We loved the bicycles, bungalows, private lounge chairs, afternoon coffee and the Earth restaurant as well. Also, how great to be able to bike (1.1 miles) to the Tides- the beach front sister property. Two for the price of one :) The only suggestion is to have a hot meal delivered to the room instead of a continental breakfast. We will definitely be back.

Dear rtsGreenwich_CT:

It sounds as though Google led you in the direction of a resort that is a perfect fit for you! All of the things that you came to love are the fundamental components of Hidden Pond -- it is nice to hear how much you enjoyed them. We aim to provide rustic luxury where you can be tucked away in 65 acres of birch and beech trees, yet go to sleep on Frette linens and wake up to a pot of hot, local coffee. I am glad that you recognized and appreciated this delicate balance.

I think your breakfast comment is entirely well received. Due to the geographical challenges of delivering hot breakfast at a set time across such a large property, we have opted to stay true to our bakery basket which provides a nice treat in the morning. We are exploring breakfast options for the future that may better suit your needs. Also, next time you're with us, I'd love to point you in the direction of the Wayfarer, which is one of my favorite places for a delicious hot breakfast.

I anticipate welcoming you back to Hidden Pond in the future! Please let me know if I can be of assistance in any way with booking or inquiry needs.

Kind Regards,

Justin Grimes

Hidden Ponds is a beautiful resort minutes outside of Kennebunkport , Maine. It is comprised of 2 different types of accommodations, all tucked inside of a woodland terrain. There were homes that attracted families. Then there were large cabins with beautiful furnishings. Each cabin had a large screened in porch with a 2 person rattan couch and table. Glass doors led to a very large bedroom with 4 poster beds, a couch facing a fireplace, a fridge and lots of unique art pieces. One of the posters in the 4 poster bed blocked your view of the large screen tv that hung from the wall making it impossible to sit in bed and watch tv. A very large bathroom with huge shower and a separate outdoor shower. A minimal breakfast was provided each morning, left hanging on your porch door. One morning was a much more ample breakfast than the other, so the lack of consistency was odd. There was a decent sized adult pool next to their very hip restaurant Earth, with outdoor tables, and bar and fire pit with Adirondack chairs. A spa is in this complex as well. A separate pool geared toward families with children was in a different part of the property. They have a small but beautiful garden, (next to a small shop), where they encourage you to pick up a vase, and clippers and cut your own bouquet to take to your cabin. A real plus for this resort is a sister property on a gorgeous white sand beach just a mile or so away. There are plenty of bikes and you can choose to bike to the sister property, where you are met by beach attendants who set up chairs, give you towels and supply ice water. In fact they hand you a small lunch menu and deliver it to your beach chair. We were there for 2 days and took advantage of a new program to learn how to use paddle boards. We signed up for lessons with their Brazilian instructor and he was a fabulous teacher, and a most engaging man who we enjoyed immensely. The staff are very obliging and extending and they offered a creative array of activities. My main criticism is that the landscaping needs a lot of work. There wasn't one flowering bush, plant or tree around the cabins area for the days I was there in July. The road leading up to the cabins was more in line with a scout camp ambiance than a pricey resort. The bushes and trees between the car park and the front door had many dead branches that should have been cleared. So there was a huge contrast between the beautiful interiors and the plain jane exteriors.

Dear SheriSR:

Thank you for a glowing review of both Hidden Pond, as well as our sister property The Tides Beach Club. Your description of the two properties is perfect as it goes to show how much you were able to soak up the amenities at both hotels. It is great to hear you describe Hidden Pond as a "retreat", as this is exactly the type of atmosphere that we try to create. We are tucked away, "hidden" and the perfect home base for a relaxing getaway.

I am so happy that you were able to have an afternoon of paddle boarding with Marcio. As you noticed (and mentioned), he is one of the most charismatic men in Maine. He loves what he does and feeds off of the energy of our guests. I am confident that he had just as much fun as you! I will be sure to pass along your kind words to him, as I know he will be very proud.

Thank you for sharing your feedback on our landscaping. The mix of plants and shrubs that we use in the bungalow section are modest and most of them do not have true "flowers". The area was designed to highlight the amber colors of the pine needles which line the forest floors and forward-facing plots of the bungalows. It is intended to provide a dramatic pop against the lush, green pine needles that dangle from the trees above. I certainly think your criticism is very valid, as an additional burst of color from flowers would enhance the landscape. I have passed along your comments to Dave, our Grounds Manager, as these types of comments will be very useful to us in the spring as we redesign and enhance our grounds.

Thank you for visiting us at Hidden Pond and enjoying a wonderful vacation in Maine. I hope to welcome you back in the future!

Kind Regards,

Justin Grimes
