“A Very Good Place to Stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2012

A friend and I spent two days and nights at The Lodge at Kennebunkj last week. I had called and had a few questions which Charles, the general manager, quickly answered for me. A big plus was that they accepted dogs, This is an inviting motel as you drive up. Well taken care of and not jammed between other businesses. There is a large lot behind the motel which makes a nice buffer from the turnpike noise...there isn't any but you can get to it quickly if you are going elsewhere.

Our room was spotless. Everything worked as it was supposed to. I had a problem getting the tv to work, Thank You Charles for your quick response. The problem was my fatigue, the tv was fine. The beds were very comfortable, the small fridge and microwave came in handy for snacks and heating up food.during our stay. Some folks may not like the sink being outside the bathroom, that's the setup, deal with it, it's not the end of the world. The Continental breakfast was great to get you going, coffee, tea, juice, hot and cold cereals, waffles english muffins and assorted bagels.
Charles is very knowledgeable about the area and had several good suggestions about nearby restaurants, as well as letting us know that part of Rt 1 was being worked on so we could avoid that piece.
I am looking forward to coming back. It's a nice, clean, dog friendly place, close to where I like to be in southern Maine, at an affordable price, very important these days. Thank You Charles for all your help in making our stay a pleasurable one.

This is the second review of this facility, one year later. Stayed with wife three nights in September 2012.

Room large and confortable, bed firm and comfortable. Armchair, microwave, fridge, table very useful. New double pane window in front (on road side) makes for quiet. Turnpike far enough away (in back) to be virtually unnoticeable. Walls might be a little bit thin if neighbors noisy, but normally not a real problem. Good value for money. Convenient to the Town and pike. Friendly staff. Continental style self-serve breakfast still OK (pumpkin/spice bagels very tasty!). Would not hesitate to stay here again.

Negatives: they still need a few door hooks for casual clothes hanging (but there is a nice closet.) Rear windows could still use a little lubrication to ease opening/closing.

We stayed 2 nights in August 2012 and although conveniently located and adequate size room, the bathroom was unclean and not maintained. Also, front desk did not honor their advertisement of a free $10 gas card with each night stay. Said it depended on how the reservation was made but the ad did not specify.

Room Tip: Avoid this hotel if possible

We were heading up to Bar Harbor, and found this convenient one-night stop. Family owned/run, they take great pride in keeping the rooms clean (we travel with our pooch, and I often suffer allergic reactions in 'pet friendly' rooms - NO problem here - a sign of really good housekeeping!).
The area is a lovely place to explore, and this is a really good option for those who don't want to bust the budget!

This place is a budget motel. You can't go there and expect something more. We were looking for an inexpensive place to base a quick trip to Kennebunkport/Ogunquit. It was convenient for that. The first room we checked into was basic, but fine. But a problem was soon evident with the toilet. It was after hours, but a handyman quickly showed up with a plunger. After quite a bit of time, he was left and came back with a key to a new room (which was an upgrade). While we ended up preferring the original room (since the new room needed upgrades that were already done to the first room we tried (things like heavy curtains over the blinds, a remote dontrol for the AC, upgrades to the bathroom), we appreciated that the took responsibility for making sure we were happy, met us at the room to make sure we were set, then even checked in with us the next morning (after fixing the original toilet). The staff made this visit worthwhile.

This older-style motel was just perfect for the money we paid for two nights. The pool is heated and decent. Our 11 yr. old loved it......and so did our neices that came to visit. The rooms are plenty big and handicapped bathroom was very roomy and clean. Would def. come to area and stay here. Give it a try! Ask for Molly--the mgr. very helpful and knows the area well.

Hoping for a quick 3 day getaway was not what we were getting. I wish we had brought our Clorox as well. The bathroom was moldy, door stuck and the fan really needs to be replaced. We booked a couple of weeks before going and was promised a rate over the phone which was not honored. The day person behind the counter was not very helpful or friendly. The pool was disgusting, it was infested with caterpillars everywhere. My teens and 4 year old was very disappointed. The only good thing about it was the beach parking passes and the proximity to I95. We will not be staying here again.
