“a great getaway!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2007

Just back from my fourth visit to SEASIDE INN. It's just a perfect relaxing simple immaculately clean inn. The second floor ocean view balcony room gives a great view of the ocean. I love the quaint town too!

We stayed here one night at the end of our New England vacation. The property has a building of motel like rooms as well as some small cottages. We were in the first floor of the motel building. Rooms are older but large and have refrigerators. There was a small balcony with chairs and a table. We could leave the door open at night and hear the sound of the surf. That is how close the property is to the beach. Walk down a short pathway to a private beach. You can walk to town from here, about a 20 minute walk and very pretty. Staff were friendly and offered dinner suggestions and made reservations for us. Our only complaint was that the air conditioner in our room would not come on. However, with the door open, we really didn't need it. The continental breakfast was very nice with homemade muffins and irish oatmeal. We found an internet special for $95 which was considerably lower than any other places in the area. A really great value! I would definitely stay here again. If you are looking for a fancy room, this place is not for you. If you want a nice, clean, affordable room with a great location, book here!

  • Liked — the close proximity to the beach, falling asleep to the sound of the waves
  • Disliked — air conditioner did not work

Our first experience traveling to Maine was a great one with the Seaside Inn as our "home away from home." It was a beautiful weekend with the fall colors. A little hard to find late at night. Please don't repeat our mistake - this Inn is located in Kennebunk, not Kennebunk (big difference).

The room was very clean in an older room. It was nice to walk out of our room and a very short walk across the yard to the beach.

The innkeepers were very helpful as we planned our "tourist days". The continental breakfast was very good on a fall morning with oatmeal, warm muffins, cereals, fruit, toast, coffee and juice.

We will be back........

Fantastic place, lulled to sleep every night by the sound of the surf. A short walk to their private sandy beach, not accross the road, not nearby, its ON the beach.

Also close to the center of Kennebunkport, plus many many great restaurants in KBP, or nearby Wells. Clean friendly, and great muffins in the morning!

I'll be back next year!

I'm writing this from my room on my last evening there on the free WiFi.

  • Liked — Peaceful, quiet, and the cean so close

Just got back from a one night stay at the Seaside- We are already planning our next trip! Definitely the nicest property around, direct private beach access without crossing a road, finding parking etc.

We were checked in by a very friendly gentleman who helped us with directions and suggestions to restaurants (Federal Jacks and Pier 77 are both great with amazing views- especially Pier 77) The inn is charming, but updated and immaculate. I highly recommend paying a little extra and getting the second floor, ocean view room. AMAZING view. The balcony is private and cute with nice new furniture to enjoy the view. The rooms were very clean and comfortable with a refrigerator, ac etc. All the amenties youd expect. You can open the sliding door and fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean and enjoy the breeze. There arent a lot of onsite amenities (pool, hot tub etc) but it doesnt really matter because the beach is 10x better than that stuff. Everyone was really helpful and kind and made us feel welcome. The complimentary breakfast was nice and consisted of muffins, cereal, fruit and assorted breads. Cant wait to go back- my new favorite place!!

  • Liked — charming, clean rooms and amazing beach access
  • Disliked — would have liked a dvd player in room, not a big deal though

We found the Seaside's website online, and we decided to try it out because it said the property was right on the beach. This was absolutely true...it took us about two minutes to get to the beach from our room on the first floor of the inn. The beach itself was clean, and we had plenty of space becaue it was private. This was a high priorty for us, and we were elated to have found the perfect location. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The small refrigerator was very handy. The bathroom also had a large cabinet, which we liked. The inn offered a daily breakfast that included muffins, cereal, bagels and even French toast on one of the mornings.

There were a few small things that we did not like about the inn, and these would probably only bother a small percentage of travelers. First, we are accustomed to hotel rooms being non-smoking, but we were surprised to see that my mother was not permitted to smoke on our private patio either. The rooms on the second floor have private balconies, and those were non-smoking too. There are two smoking areas at the end of the inn, which is not a far walk from any room. However, we felt that not being able to smoke on the private patio/balcony of the room was excessive. Second, we were dismayed that the maids began using the vacuum at 8 am and that they often talked loudly in the hall at this hour as well. We felt that the inn operators and employees should have been more respectful of people who wanted to sleep past 8 am during their vacation.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Seaside and plan to go back next year if possible. We would recommend it to anyone who wants to stay right on the beach in Kennebunkport and doesn't mind having to leave the immediate area of their room to smoke or being woken up by the housekeeping staff at 8 am.

We just stayed at Seacost Inn and Cottages. There are very few places in Kennebunkport on the beach, in fact this was only one we found. Even George Bush's mansion is on a big pile of rocks! They have motel style rooms some ocean view some garden. Price is only about $25 more for ocean view, worth the extra money. Small fridge in room is very convenient. There is a small deck at end of the 2nd floor if you could not get ocean view room. There are cottages on the property of various sizes, which would be good for a family but for 2 of us motel room with daily maid service and breakfast was perfect. They also have loaner beach chairs. They will even order in lunch for you if you request it by 10am (there are no close by restaurants). As mentioned in another posting, the staff is nice but not too flexible. They are fully booked during summer, so they need to run a tight ship for those 12 weeks. Would love to stay there for a couple of weeks. Not a good choice for smokers, no smoking in rooms or decks, which is fine for us. Very clean and bright. rooms. Also the place has an amazing history, owned by same family for like 200 years or something. Nice to know there are some people who have not sold out!!

We walked to town for dinner, about 20 minute walk, Had good food at Arundel Wharf, fun large outside deck, popular with locals. For dinner drive over to Cape Porpoise Harbor [-----] They also have a great sportsbar for casual dining. Also heard Hurricane Restaurant is good but did not get there, only had one day!!. [------]

Make sure you visit St Anne's Chapel (Bush family worships there I was told), They had an 8am outside service overlooking ocean that I wish we attended but maybe next time
