“Good choice for seafood”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

spectacular view and decent menu selection. Probably a bit upscale from your typical Maine lobster house but not yet at the white linen level (which is totally OK). We had the chef suggestion: a cornmela crusted halibut which was very good.

“Perfect Harpswell Experience”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

We live across Potts Harbor from Dolphin Marina and always recommend the restaurant to friends, family members, and guests that we host through airbnb. Fresh food with great variety for a "seafood place", amazing truly New England chowders, and the blueberry muffins complimented by some of best views in South Harpswell! Loved by locals and visitors alike.

“Superb Dining by the Sea”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

We discovered the Dolphin from the owners of the inn where we stayed (see my review on the Harpswell Inn). Located at the tip of the Harpswell peninsula (south of Brunswick), my wife and I were blown away with the quality of service and food and the view over Casco Bay.

By chance, we met one of the co-owner upon entering. She was leaving but stopped to talk to us and welcome us to the area. Our young female server was incredibly good. She listened attentively as Sue explained her food allergies, immediately got our drinks, and answered my questions about the restaurant's history (the new location is only a few years old, though the restaurant's been in operation since the sixties).

Our meal was excellent (I'm a fish eater though Sue is not) and the wait was not long, considering that the restaurant was full at this point with a growing waiting list. When I asked our server if it's always that busy on a Monday night, she replied that it was pretty quiet. Lineups are the norm.

What's significant about this gem of a restaurant is that it is located well off Route 1 (30 minutes) along a very winding and hilly road. Yet people flock to this place.

If you want a great experience, from excellent service to food to panoramic view, then check out The Dolphin. We'll be back next years.

“Perfect place for a Maine dinner by the water”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

We were visiting in the Brunswick area of Maine and wanted to do one nice dinner out somewhere where we could see the water--this was the perfect spot! Beautiful location, attractively-designed new building with lots of windows looking out at the bay, and a nice, but not-too-too-expensive menu including crab and lobster dishes. We opted for the haddock special (fine) and the lobster stew (delicious). The stew came with a wonderful, moist blueberry muffin. I could easily have eaten two! But they were big, so that was plenty. My husband had the blueberry crisp for dessert and said it was the best he'd ever had. The manager? owner? came around several times to see if we were enjoying ourselves, and the service was attentive. The dining room was quiet and peaceful. All in all, our idea of a perfect special dinner out--and a great end for what had been a lovely day. Highly recommended!

Glad we drove there, but expected better than average food. The blueberry muffin was nice and fresh.
