I recently enjoyed a catered meal from Chippers. What a fantastic feast for our party, many of us "natives". It was the best lobster bisque that I have ever had! Shayna was our hostess and she worked tirelessly to serve everyone with a smile. Thanks Chip & Shayna for making our meal so pleasant.

We have driven by Chippers for many years…and this year we decided to try it! Everyone in our party had a delicious meal. Scallops and halibut entrees cooked to perfection! We were very pleased with the sampler of haddock chowder and small salad. We shared some of their homemade ice cream and it was wonderful!

The only suggestion I would make is that the wait staff read the specials menu to the customer in lieu of just pointing and moving the board near the table. Hard to see some of the selections toward the bottom of the board…especially for those with "old" eyes!

We will be back next summer! Chippers has a pub menu now and those selections looked very inviting!!

We have a summer home in the area and have been past this establishment many times and never stopped. After reading an article in the Ellsworth American we stopped and do not regret it. Server was Chandler and she was very good and knew the menu. She forgot one drink refill and when asked took care of it right away and with an apology not an excuse that seems to be the norm of most servers today. The haddock chowder sampler was outstanding. Two of the five of use are not fish eaters. We loved it. Never knew there was fish in it. I could have taken a pot of it home. Appetizers (crab cakes, escargot) were excellent. Food was a little slow but we realized it was cooked to order and we were in no hurry. Steak was cooked as requested but could have used just a little more seasoning. The other thing we all liked was that the serving size was just right. We were not leaving with bags of food. Not one complaint. What we regret is we did not go sooner. This is now on out list of places to eat at when at our Maine home.

We have a summer home in Hancock and had been to Chipper's a couple of weeks ago...had a wonderful meal with great service. So we decided to go again. We had a reservation, and were greeted at the entrance not by a hostess but by a woman who ended up being our waitress. It was somewhat busy, but I saw only 2 waitresses. Our waitress brought menus and water. That's it! For almost 20 minutes we saw her come back and forth to bring drinks to another table, but she never approached ours. I finally walked out to see where she was and if she planned to wait on us. I saw both waitresses mixing drinks at the bar. (No bartender on a Saturday night?) She said she'd be right in to us, but never showed. We finally left and ate elsewhere. I think Chipper needs to come out of the kitchen occasionally and see what's going on in the rest of the restaurant!

We had dinner on 8/7/14 Clean and bright restaurant. Food was Superb! Escargo was prepared with herbs, warm bread, a sampler of haddock chowder (wow!) and small fresh salad. We could have made a meal on that! Duck breasts were excellent with asparagras and rice. Lamb chops were the best in a wonderful glace sauce with asparagras and baked potato. Warm strawberry ruebarb pjie and chocolate mousse. Coffee warm but not hot. A minor matter after a sumptuous meal. Not cheap, but worth every penny. The best meal we have had in the Bar Harbor area
in many years where we summer. Highly recommend.
